I bought Karastan carpet on June 1, 2006 for my new townhouse. I told the salesperson I wanted heavy traffic carpet. The cost was $1400. There was no furniture to be moved, the place was clean. Less than 1 year after I bought the carpet I saw spots where it had worn down. Also in two areas the carpet had lost it's color! I went to the store where I bought the carpet and was told that since I hadn't had the carpet professionally cleaned they probably would do nothing for me. A representative did come over a few days later and blamed all the damage on me. Well, needless to say I wasn't happy. I did receive a letter from the stores home office re-ittereating what the representative told me. I left a not so nice message. The woman for whom I left the message refused to call me (wonder why) and had a man call me. He was even more emfatic that the damage was caused by me and since I didn't have the carpet professionally cleaned I didn't stand a chance of getting any help. He told me as a courtesy he would have someone from Karastan contact me. That was October 15, 2008. Today is January 4, 2009. I'm still waiting. I'm also telling people not to buy anything that has the Karastan or Mohawk label as they are the same company.

I really think if more people do not buy from the company they will hurt, just as they are hurting us. Rally everyone. Put out the word to boycott this company.
