Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
This place is absolutely unbelievable. They are dishonest, and have no integrity. Ironic that these are the qualities they say they teach to kids!

My daughter took a class session last summer at Greg Moody's Karate for Kids/Chandler. She has epilepsy, we were not sure how she was going to do. I signed a contract for 11 months, with a WRITTEN clause that I could cancel after the summer. When the summer was over, I told them we were not continuing.

I wrote that I wished to cancel on the sheet they gave me, and went to hand it to the person next to the desk (there is never anyone behind the desk full time). They told me to set it on the counter, which I did. Following this time, I have gotten numerous emails, voicemails and mail packets asking us to rejoin, so I know they know I canceled. I told one person who called months ago that we were not rejoining until possibly this summer. My schedule does not allow it and it was very expensive for us, in addition to my child's medical situation.

I have been billed $149 per month, until this month, since last year on my credit card! I called Superior Credit, their credit agency, and they have no record of canceling; they refuse to give me my money back. I spoke with the studio manager, Joshua, several times and he said there is no record of me canceling. I explained that I filled the form out and put it on the counter, the way they asked, and verbally told the instructor of my daughter's class. Joshua told me "this is unlikely" and followed this with a snicker. I asked Joshua to have Greg Moody (the studio owner) contact me, and he informed me that would be unlikely; "Why would he?" he said. Joshua stated that Master Moody said that people sign contracts without reading them, and then they get mad when they have to pay him. I read my contract, and canceled as the contract said I could.

With my first phone conversation with Joshua, he stated that the studio was not getting paid from the credit company and that they have record of the cancellation, and that he sees we had not been in class since last summer. The next day, after he spoke with Greg Moody, his statements changed, and now they have no records of my cancellation. They have called me, emailed me and sent me information asking me to rejoin!

This place is so dishonest, and they have no concern that my daughter did not take classes there since last summer! They do not care about honesty, integrity, pride or CHILDREN, the most important thing in all of this. BEWARE of this organization! They are a RIP OFF!

By the way, I notice this is the second rip-off report for this place for an almost identical contract/cancellation issue. This has not just happened to me!

I have been at the West Chandler location for 14 years now and all I can say is that I have had a great experience with everyone. The staff and instructors have been very professional with all of the students and parents. I guess that is why I have continued training for so long. I even got the rest of my family involved with the academy. Both my mother and my sister train with me and it has been such a good bonding experience for all of us. I tell everyone I know what a great experience I have had training. I suggest to everyone I meet that they should experience this place for themselves. They work with children on a daily basis and they instill many different lifeskills that will change a child's life forever. Children are taught to be leaders here. I have seen this first hand with many of the students that they have here. Chandler is lucky to have a place like this!

Pride in Karate for Kids

My family have all been proud members at Karate for Kids, Black Belt Academy for more than 10 years. I have recommended this facility and its programs to many friends and coworkers. None of them has ever had an unpleasant experience with Black Belt Academy. The instructors are professionals who treat their customers with respect. Their policies are above board and everything was explained up front before we even joined. I have seen them instill the values of discipline, integrity, honesty, and respect in their students. They have made a difference in the lives of my kids and family. We have made many friends at the Chandler Black Belt Academy and we all agree that this is the best place to bring our children because they will learn good values from the terrific example set by the instructors and staff. I will continue to commend Karate for Kids to everyone I meet and have every confidence that they will live up to that endorsement.

My children started karate for kids from the age of 3 1/2 and 5 1/2 and we have had extensive interactions with the employees. The main reason I signed up my two children was because of the way the instructors and especially Mr. Smith (the school manager at that time) worked with my kids. They were nothing but supportive, professional and both stressed and lived the life skills they taught. I myself joined about 9 months later and currently we are still involved and after 6 years we are enjoying our time at the West Chandler school. A couple of things I don't understand about the complaint written. 1) I don't care what business it is, but I would want to make sure that the cancellation notice gets into the right hands. If it doesn't at the time, then the second time I would make sure. 2) I don't understand why it took a few months to notice that the payment was still being charged to your credit card. As was stated "I have been billed $149 per month, until this month, since last year on my credit card!" I would think that if I cancelled and I found a charge on my credit card, I would go check it out and set it straight. I don't know, maybe it's me. I know the writer was upset and it sounds like there was a breakdown in communication or assumptions made, but that doesn't equal dishonesty or lack of integrity. As I stated before and based on my experience...throughout the six years of our involvement, I have not seen anything that would support the complaints assertion that Mr. Chilton, Master Moody, or anyone working at the West Chandler Karate For Kids School are dishonest. I strongly disagree with what was stated in the complaint that "They do not care about honesty, integrity, pride or CHILDREN." Based on my and my kids experience, I would and do recommend the Karate for Kids West Chandler school to those looking to find a place that will stress and practice the life skills of Honesty, discipline, self-esteem, communication, and vision. All of which I have seen developed in my kids. Dr.O Phoenix Arizona
