The service i have got from Karo van Lines Inc is different from what has been told to me.
They said their own trucker will come in to pick the stuff but i see that the pick up trucker is from a different company MID Moving and Storage Inc. Earlier when i specifically asked Robyn about the brokering of services, she said that they do not broker but it is not true.
Also the pick up trucker charged me more than what has been quoted to me. He charged me extra 400 dollars on the quote, $350 for space and $50 for the single flight of stairs and estimating that it is more than 75ft of distance.
Regarding which i already spoke to Robyn and she said that there will not be any hidden charges like these and that the only charge will be the quoted price. I paid a total of $1450 instead of the original qouted price of $1000.
Instead of paying a split of $300-deposit, $350 when picked up and $350 on delivery. I had to pay $300-deposit, $600 for pickup and $550 for delivery. During pick up they said that credit card payment would be allowed but the pick up trucker said he would not pick up the stuff if not paid in cash.
During delivery the delivery trucker charged an extra $50 citing inaccessibility to the location.
The pick up trucker who picked up on oct 24th 2010 said that my stuff will be delivered by Tuesday Oct 26th but when i call in he says it is being delivered by some other driver and will be done on Thursday Oct 28th.
Also when i got the quote it said that the pick up stuff would be insured for upto $10,000 with out any cost to me. But when signing up the consignment papers the pick up trucker made me sign a disclaimer that his company is not responsible for any damage if it occurs during the transport.
When I emailed my concerns to the company and called them up there were no answers coming in.
Therefore i request anyone who is trying to make their moving arrangements with Karo Van Lines Inc please be beware of it. They rip you off your money with extra charges using third party movers.
