Kathleen F Smith Unscrupulous Male that preys on a families upset London, Internet
I saw a posting on "craigslist" for a home that was for rent. (Here we go again with a craigslist scam!) I was thrilled to see this home considering that the situation my family is currently in, is very upsetting. Let me back track some but sum it up quickly. My husband and I have been renting our current apartment for 3 years; we have 4 children- the youngest are 2 and 1. We noticed that the paint in all rooms were beginning to crack and chip and fall on the floor. My two youngest children have been going after the paint chips and have ingested some which has resulted in my son being diagnosed recently with lead poisoning and my daughter isn't far behind. The Health Department was at our apartment today to conduct testing which really showed us how much lead paint is in our home. So in short, I have to move my family and fast. I contacted this person yesterday to express my interest in the property. Today I received an email in return asking me some basic questions about my intent and what they were looking to accomplish. This person also told me that they were away on a missions trip; great way to give Christians a bad name. Well, this "Kathleen" left "her" number for me to call, so I called. A male with a thick accent answered the phone and began asking me for $1500 and wanted to know when I could Western Union it to him; that threw up the first flag. I told him that I would wire it to him on Wednesday, knowing good and well that I had no intent to do such. After playing around on Google for about an hour, I found so many similar scams that matched the email templates and even phone scripts beautifully. So, to have some fun of my own (since he finds the fun in taking advantage of my childrens health situation), I'm playing with "Kathleen" at "her" own game. I'm now laughing and will continue to do so. I have also filed complaints with the Internet Fraud Complaint Center, and notified craigslist about this matter. I just hope that some ignorant person doesn't fall prey to this ignorant individual; they certainly aren't bright considering they will leave the name, "Kathleen", but a male answers the phone.
