My daughter, too has been victimized by Kaufman's Wedding World, along with her 11, yes 11, bridesmaids. In standing in the line today outside Kaufman's, trying to make some sense of this, I was chatting with some of the other victims. Without fail, the scam worked the same. "Do we have a deal for you. Let me call Mrs. Kaufman. She can give you this deal today only if you pay your dress off in full." And we were dumb and fell for it.

My niece bought her dresses there 2 years ago and they used the same tactics. She received everything in a timely manner, so I had no reason to think we would do otherwise.

When the girls ordered their dresses, the first couple were told they only needed 1/2 down. The last 4-5 were told they had to pay the dress in full or the rest of the dresses wouldn't be ordered. Sounds like a scam to me.

To be fair, the girls working in Johnstown are very nice and just as upset as we are. In no way do I blame them for the sales training they received from the Kaufman's. Talk about con artists--they have the market cornered there.

If Ira or Margaret plan on giving us our money back, then please Rip-off Report, give them my name, address and phone number. I'll even go to Altoona to pick it up. Margaret, no checks please...only cash, just like I gave you (or rather what you stole from me.)

Like I told the representative from the State Attorney Generals office in the store today, if I took $1000 from him and promised him merchandise in return and didn't deliver it, I would be charged with theft and sent to jail. Look at Martha Stewart--she's going to jail for selling stock based on a conversation. Yet, the Kaufman's file for bankruptcy and steal our money legally. It's time for the bankruptcy laws to stop protecting the big corporations and really look out for the consumer. Seems we don't have a voice in this at all.

I truly feel for the girl who left Kaufman's today at 4:00 with her flower girl dress. Her wedding is in 2 weeks and she has nothing to show for it but that dress.

Ira--Margaret--I will sleep tonight. My daughter will sleep tonight and her wedding party will sleep tonight. We will wake up tomorrow and move on, ordering the dresses from a reputable bridal shop and pay once again. I hope you have a conscience and I hope that you lose many nights of sleep worrying about how you've ruined what is supposed to be the happiest day of so many lives. And don't let it keep you awake thinking about some poor girl who scrimped and saved to have the money to buy the wedding dress of her dreams and now has nothing...nothing...and no money to buy another one. I'm sure she's out there and heartsick. What goes around, comes around. And when your time comes, I doubt if there will be anyone that will feel sorry for you.
