I order 3 bridesmaid dresses from Kaufman's wedding world in Whitehall, PA. on 4/30/2004. They told me that they would be in on 7/31/2004. I called them the week before and they said that dress company was back ordered. They would be in by 8/27/2004. On 8/25/2004 I called them again and they said they would be in on time. I gave them my number again so they could call me when the dresses came in.

On 8/27/2004 I called them and no one answered the phone, i called the next day same thing. Then my sister who is one of the bridesmaids went to the store to find out where they where. The store CLOSED FOREVER. Was just an empty buliding. The store next to them stated that they moved the store to Lancaster, PA which about 2hrs away. So I called the Lancaster store to find out where are my dresses. They could not tell me. They only thing they said was that they were going to mail the dress to me. and where that were they could not say.

When I asked if I could speack with Mr Kaufman the owner to tell them how they treat there customer 2 months before there wedding of course they said No. They only have a cell number and they can't give that out. So now I wait to see when they will come in.

Defrauding and Brutalizing bridal dress retail executives

#2Consumer Comment

Young lady, please contact: Mr. Mendelsohn PA Attorney General's office Bureau of Consumer Protection 14th Floor Strawberry Square Harrisburg, PA 17120 Phone: 717-787-9707 Fax: 717-787-1190 Ask Mr. Mendelsohn if there is anything he can do for you. He was instrumental in helping other victims (of a closing bridal shop in 2002) get their dress or money back. He wasted tax payer monies to address the illegal business of bridal dress scams. Please explain to Mr. Mendelsohn that his failure to address the "nationwide" problems of bridal dress deception in the year 2002 has resulted in more distress victims of bridal dress executives who unlawfully run the bridal dress industry. Read some of the other post by consumer advocate "Peggy" who said she investigated the entire bridal dress industry and found many "illegal" deceptive sales practices by the industry. Read the books, articles and complaints involving the same "OLD" repetitive crime of bridal dress sales. Keep us posted as to how the unhelpful Kaufman's Wedding World will handle this disaster? Below is some informationfor consumers to explain what the responsibilities of the Attorney General's office entails. The PA state attorney is failing its responsibilities of helping distressed defrauded victims and I know that because it the yearly crime continues. The PA State Attorney's office notes the following" By law, the Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection is authorized to perform the following duties: Investigate commercial and trade practices in the distribution, financing and furnishing of goods and services for the use of consumers; Conduct studies, investigations and research into matters affecting consumer interests and make such information available to the public; Advise the Legislature on matters affecting consumer interests, including the development of policies and the proposal of programs to protect consumers; Investigate fraud and deception in the sale, servicing and furnishing of goods and products, and strive to eliminate such illegal actions; Promote consumer education and publicize matters relating to consumer fraud, deception and misrepresentation. Based upon consumer complaints or investigations, the Bureau is authorized to take formal legal action against persons and organizations that engage in unfair and deceptive conduct in the advertisement or sale of goods or services within the Commonwealth. However, in response to numerous consumer complaints received each year, the Bureau has also developed a statewide mediation program, which seeks restitution, refund or other relief for consumers and affected businesses in a fair and impartial manner. ***** Finally tell Mr. Mendelsohn that consumers don't want help in seeking "mediation, restitution, refunds, etc.". We DEFRAUDED CONSUMERS AND WITNESSES WANT IT TO STOP so that we don't need mediation. Let me know if you need any further help. I will say that many post from "Peggy" is right on the mark explaining the deception of many bridal dress executives nationwide. Keep the complaints coming ladies, it is the only way we consumers have to get results.

#3Consumer Suggestion

Tue, August 31, 2004

Fawn, Another Wedding World store closed in May and left customers stranded. WPXI (Channel 11) did a story at that time. You might try contacting them for help. A few weeks later KDKA (Channel 2) did a story about a customer waiting several months for a promised refund. Their consumer advocate might be willing to help you. I'm sure you have read reports of what will happen if you do nothing. Wedding World may come up with dresses a day before the wedding. We got our dresses with the help of an attorney. Good luck.
