My husband and I hired Kevin Cannon to take photos of ourselves. We agreed on a date and I transferred $150 for the deposit that day. He mailed me a receipt.
In January of 2015, I had to cancel my session with Kevin. I asked him if he would be willing to return my deposit. He agreed he would. He said he needed two weeks to do it. .
I followed up with Kevin two weeks later. He said business was slow and he needed two more weeks.
Another two weeks later, Kevin promised he'd send me the money once Spring Break hit. I offered him to pay $50 to me over the next three months. He declined.
A couple weeks later, I followed up again. He said he'd just landed a big deal and should send it the next week.
Several weeks later, I stillhad no refund. I followed up and he said it would once again be the following week.
On April 9, 2015, he said the check was in the mail. It never came. Hesaid he was stopping payment 1.5 weeks later. I was beyond frustrated at this point and asked him to wire the money to me. He responded four days later that his assistant was wiring the money. Needless to say, it never got wired.
In our conversation days later, he admitted that he had "6-8 other clients waiting on refunds" and "theirs are over $1000."
On May 5, 2015, I mailed Kevin a demand letter. I received a rude message from him on May 10, 2015, saying that any further communication should be through phone. He quit responding to my messages after that.
I never received the refund he promised he'd issue on multiple occasions. This is no way to run a business.
