Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Please double and triple check Knights Transportation Pre–Employment procedures and especially before finalizing your travel dates purchasing and leaving your residence along with the assigned recruiter, once expressing interest with this company, who faces challenges retaining new recruits and retaining them even up to 60-90 days.

The Atlanta Georgia and Memphis Tennessee (Southeast division DOES NOT HONOR) what they say!! BELIEVE ME – BEFORE YOU START TRAINING OR SEATED --REQUEST ALL COPIES OF YOU AGREEMENTS OR CONTRACTS: I can't stress this enough!

Before leaving your home and transferring your Class A License, check the perspective states transfer fees, and  laws. I moved from California to Georgia: Knight Memphis recruiter – is a piece of work, Christy Miller presses you hard - upfront to withdraw your current registration within the first 30 days:  GEORGIA DMV WILL NOT TRANSFER YOUR HAZMAT ENDORSEMENTS:  I believed she’s moved on, so good luck.

Be cautious. Call the DMV Office – FIRST before considering transferring or switching your license…It will cost you out of pocket (extra spending expenses:  /// Make sure payroll sends you a final confirmation for automatic deposits, initially, it was a disaster to get it matching with your auto banking needs.

The W- 4 withholding statements were out dated in their employee portal site:

  • The form was 2 or 3 years old showing 2012 or 2013 as recent….so I wonder what else isn’t being monitored efficiently)?

They take an $100.00 (nonrefundable fee upfront inwhich I informed payroll and recruiting that I did not have the fee prior to starting their training course) Christy from the Memphis department still had an attitude about this.

The teacher to student ratio skills test is completely false. New recruits are being cheated coming in door, especially if you have NEVER driven before:

OTR TRAINING IS EXACTLY $400.00 /per week, along with this, use extreme caution being careful with pay advances, this can be a trap. After all the tax deductions, it averages around $ 200.00 p/week: Remember: You will have to live with this wage for 4-7 weeks, If you can manage…?  Crappy?  It’s part of the plan to make the company money, unless your Independent from the beginning, which is an option and can be very lucrative.

I was told the Southeast region had recently discontinued their Squire program…be careful with signing on along with the full road training. REQUEST A COPY OF AGREEEMENTS UP FRONT!  NOT JUST IN WRITING!  Make sure you get the full road skills shifting for higher gears training --- For Example:  Downshifting from 4th to 5th gears can be rough, if you never perform this function. Get your monies worth!

Crucial Watch Alert! Watchout for the safety road – orientation tester:  They have one person Ray handling most of the exams (He has ulterior motives, constantly)!  If he determines from the beginning he doesn’t like something you said in class, all the way thru from traveling over the road with your instructor…at the end….testing with Ray will get you a FAILING ROAD TEST! GUARANTEED!  Even if you make it thru all the the road experience passing evaluations.  Ray WILL FIND A WAY TO GET RID OF YOU!

If you have sleep problems, ask up front about the “SLEEP APNEA” provisions:

Ask what are their policies?  Even if they see you once arriving at the terminal, and they determined visually you MIGHT NEED the sleep machine, they will request you to pay out of pocket (Upfront before completing your file.  The machines ranges from $ 90 and up as far to $ 300 … If you have insurance…? Great. Have at it.   I know a few new co-workers they sent home p__off: They most likely won’t negotiate this up or down!

Non-Smoking trainers is few and far between, it may take longer than usual wait time to match you with someone:  So plan to wait a extra week or two…WITHOUT PAY! Either at home or whatever arrangement.

DONT EXPECT new trucks out of training: It will probably have some miles on the odometer.  Trust me, you probably want a truck with at least 50,000 miles (a little broken in on the engine, so it gets chance to adjust to road nature environments inversely to weight load performances)….Trucks have their own personality’s, I almost believe this part!  The hotel staff will move your things (without your consent) 4 days into the week, usually on Thursday, so make sure your valuables are safe.

Take care of your engine, tires, topping off fluids regularly. If you don’t take care it…It will not take care of you. So do both of you a favor, and schedule regular maintenance twice /month in logs:

Bring a small suitcase and not your entire Nike shoe collection,  plenty of deodorant, some instructors will send you home early if you have no respect for decent body odors.

Outside all this, be extremely patient, bring your tablet, down load plenty of flix, the money gets better as you go. Remember: ALWAYS Safety First, Safe Journeys!
