Kohler Plumbing Products Extremely expensive kit ,$47.10, needed to attach toilet seat to toilet. Kohler, Wisconsin
Eighteen months ago, I hired a contractor to remodel my bathroom. He installed a Kohler toilet (K4418) and Kohler toilet seat. Both look and operate fine, with one exception. The common bolts he used to attach the seat to the toilet often came loose and had to be re-tightened. I tried purchasing new bolts at a home center, and those also came loose time and again. I finally went to the Kohler website to see how to remedy the problem...surely there must be a way to keep the seat from coming loose all the time. What I found was a little note on the website that applied. It says, "Some Kohler toilets use an attachment system for their seats called anchors". The site offers a "toilet seat anchor kit" for $47.10! Who would ever imagine that the hardware to attach a toilet seat to a toilet would cost more than the seat, and almost a third of the price of the entire toilet? It seems my only choices are to either cough up that ridiculous amount of money, or figure out a way to do it more cheaply by some method I come up with myself. In any case, I'd never buy another Kohler product. What a scam!
