I was trying to find a cheap apartment in Oak Park, IL and i came upon a zillow add and it had an amazing apartment for only $700 a month. I contacted the lister because it was too good to be true, we talked through email he told me his name was KORLEEN M. GILLETTE and he was a missionary in West Africa but he had also worked for the US Government. He implied a lot about god and religion and how he needed a clean tennant. He gave me a phone number to call it was disabled but as soon as he saw i was still interested in the apartment he called me 4 times in a row without leaving a voicemail. He left me an email stating that he wanted us to send the $600 down payment before we got the keys and the contract. That was a read flag for me, he also said he lived at 52 Anglican Road Victoria Island Largo, Africa and to send funds through Western Union. That was also a read flag. I did research and found this was a scam and that the real listing was to SELL the house not rent. The price was too good to be true.
