On 10/27/03 Kwik Kar of Valley Ranch put front brakes on my Honda 1997 Accord. The brakes came with a 12,000 mile warranty. From November through June, I experienced occasional squeaking noises when I would apply the brakes. By the end of July the squeaky noises had become a knocking sound coming from the right front wheel when the brakes were applied.

On 7/27/04, I talked to the manager, Rich, who asked me to bring the car back to Kwik Kar to have the problem checked into. The assistant manager, Mike, reported there was a metal plate rubbing against the rotor, so they bent it out of the way. I was told there was no problem with my brakes. The knocking continued, and worsened. On 7/29/04, I heavy black grease began leaking out onto my right front wheel.

On 8/2/04, I took my car back to Kwik Kar with the same complaint as before. This time the assistant manager, Mike, told me they resurfaced the rotors on the front. I was told there was no problem with the brakes whatsoever. Within 24 hours, the same problem occurred, but louder and with greater frequency. Each time I asked for a written explanation of the work done and was refused.

On 8/11/04, I took my car into an auto garage that specializes in brakes and alignment. The mechanic reported there was a clip missing on the right front brake that stabilizes the brake pad. On further inspection, the mechanic found a puncture in the boot that covers the CV joint. I was told this was most likely caused by removing the caliper with a screwdriver. The grease coming from the boot was thick and black. It cost me $238.19 to repair the torn boot around the CV joint and replace the missing parts from the brake assembly.

8/12/04 I returned to Kwik Kar and spoke to the manager, Rich to get a reimbursement. He offered to replace the boot for 60 dollars, and showed no concern for the missing brake parts. I respectfully declined since the work was already done by a credible shop.

I expect for Kwik Kar to reimburse me the $238.19 for their faulty brake work and damage to my CV boot.
