The seller here is threatening me for no reason. I have wanted to buy his unit from him and made him an offer.  He threatens me email after email that he is going to press charges on me.  If you are a buyer and want to buy a place at 16 Beacon st in Chelsea, I would be very careful. This guy is a time bomb waiting to go off.

Agreed.  However what you can *not* see via this particular posting is that we (the sellers) posted a genuine 'consumer beware' report for Jacob Resnek and his company (Prattville Auctions) after receiving a suspicious Craigslist email and then researching Jacob's information and very easily finding 2 ROR's connected to him and another company he owns "Idealcell."  The report we filed is available on this site.  I encourage you to read it.

It was indeed Jacob who chose to use this forum to engage in personal & malicious attacks that by no means service any consumer searching this site for legitimate information.

Drama...

#3General Comment

Given that there was no transaction, it's difficult to see how this belongs on ROR. One party made a lowball offer, the other party responded with f*** off and the situation deteriorated from there.

Both parties would have been better off to keep the drama between them.

Email correspondence with Jacob Resnek

I have never in my life come across such fabricated nonsense!  Email proof of my discussions with this "man" (Jacob Resnek) are listed below.  The "offer" he's referring to was put forth in the following manner (this is a copy of the email and those that followed from me, the seller, Keri Burns):

Prattville Auctions to hous-djmvu-175. show details May 25 (7 days ago) ** CRAIGSLIST ADVISORY --- AVOID SCAMS BY DEALING LOCALLY ** Avoid: wiring money, cross-border deals, work-at-home ** Beware: cashier checks, money orders, escrow, shipping ** More Info: http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams.html

Jacob: I will give you $115,000 for your unit and not a penny more. I will close the deal in less than 10 days.

Jacob is a person who had visited our condo for a showing (as a potential renter) almost a year ago and was in correspondence with my husband as recently as May 2010.  At that time he told my husband he wanted to do a short sale and we said "no thanks."

NEVER in this "offer" email did he disclose his name or any other relevant information (much less an actual greeting!)...which is certainly very deceitful considering he'd actually been *inside* our home and professed to us how much he loved it!

In addition, our condo is listed for $242,500 - anyone who's seen it would certainly understand why a $115,000 offer is an absolute slap in the face.  In addition, we've received countless emails and phone calls from real estate agents, 'auction houses' and other third party companies who wanted to try and sell our property or purchase it for an absurdly low amount of money...so it's accurate to say I personally was fed up.
Here is my response to Jacob's offer (with an expletive edit!) and our communication to follow (remember, he never identifies himself as the guy my husband had communicated with several times over the past year):

Keri Burns to Prattville show details May 30 (3 days ago)

Keri: F**K OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're obnoxious and predatory. I'm reporting you to craigslist.

Jacob: Hey Kyle, I am going to forward this email to several of your former neighbors.

Keri: First off...this isn't Kyle. Secondly, you need to respect the fact that this listing is for sale by owner for a reason. We've been inundated by agents and other companies since we listed the condo...everyone but potential buyers. Lastly, I'm going to report your absurd threats and antics to the BBB.

Jacob: ok kyle, go for it.

Keri: ;) Hi Jacob~ Wow...turns out you have quite a few complaints on ripoffreport.com. Interesting, interesting! We'll be adding to list of complaints that appear to be piling up against you and your "company." ~Keri (not Kyle) Burns

Jacob: at some point you will want to sell your apt. compare what comps have recently sold for in your area and revalue your unit. I picked up a 3 bed on medford street for less than what you are asking... Everything has tanked. I made you an offer and you basically told me i was an a*****e. I have 1 complaint on that site, it will haunt me for the rest of my life, add another one and I will post one up with your information, there is NO way to remove it and it follows you forever. Its the biggest scam site on the net.

After this email I stopped communication with Jacob and my husband intervened and in no way shape or form made any threats (we have email proof of that as well!).  In fact, it was Jacob who threatens to post a bogus (as he did!!) claim against us if we followed through with our consumer complaints.  Note his last line that this site is "the biggest scam site on the net"...he just might have a point if ridiculous, fabricated claims such as his are allowed to be published without any sort of fact checking or verification process.

Wondering

Wondering... On your offer to buy his place what did the contract say? Depending on that, the seller might legally be able to press charges. If there is no contract, the seller is just mad.

The email issue, my guess if there isn't a contract, he doesn't have money for a lawyer and is trying to be the bully on the playground.

Check Coldwell Banker, they list 16 Beacon Street #3, 1 Beds | 1 Baths | 684 Sq Ft  for $219,900.

What was that guy asking?
