Landmark Credit Union has the worst customer service. I have had numerous problems with their website banking when it comes to the validity of when something is charged. On a number of occasions I called the supervisor at the head branch and he refused to talk to me. All in all, I am very dissappointed with this credit union.

I was charged for a 29 dollar fee when I believe, according to the online account transactions, I had the money in my account. I paid 55.00 to my credit card a few days before, using my cards online payment option. When I looked two days later, at my bank account, they charged me an insufficiant funds fee. The thing about this charge is that I had 65.00 dollars in my account when this fee was added. I called the corporate office and they told me that the charge after this fee, for my sirius radio, was actually paid first making my account under the 55.00 dollars I had paid the card. I argued that online it showed the charge for the fee first which in my eyes means that the computer processed the card payment before the radio payment. According to them this was not the case even though that is what the computer showed on my account, and I got nowhere with them. I am unsatisfied with the way I was treated on the phone with customer service. When I asked for the supervisor, Brian, who was in the office, I was told that I should just go into a branch and try to talk to them about it. They totally blew me off and didn't care about what I had to say. This is the worst bank I have ever dealt with and they charge erronous fees so they can make money. I do not recommend anyone bank with them. Thanks for reading my story, i hope it helps you to not make this mistake.

But you are wrong.  You are relying on on-line banking which was never meant to be the sole method for managing your account.  You need to maintain a written register and every time you make a transaction you have to update your written register.  As on-line banking does not know what you have spent until they receive it.  It does not matter where you "bank", but the same thing would have happened, but may have cost you more money.  A regular bank will charge anywhere from about $32-$39 on average for NSF fees.

Not to mention that a Credit Union or Bank has the right to return a check or ACH transaction unpaid if you don't have a sufficent balance.  If they do they will still charge you a Return Item fee, which is generally equivalent to the NSF fee.  But if it is returned your Credit card would have also charged you a Returned Item fee, generally in the $30-$40 range.  Since the payment was rejected if you are now late you would also be charged a late fee and additional interest.  The late fee again would be in the $30-$40 range.  In a worst case scenerio if that puts you over your limit you would also be charged an over the limit fee, again in the $30-$40 range.

So basically your mistake cost you $29, where it could have cost you easily have topped $100.  So take this as a cheap lesson on taking responsibility to manage your account.
