I responded to a job-post through Craigslist for a courier position in the LA county. I was then contacted through email by someone said to be a  representative of the company with an immediate job offer for their "Freight Forwarder Assistant" position. The job description is to receive and process shipments sent by the company and then forward and ship the packages to their designated location. They did not require any fees or credit card/bank numbers and even had an application and employment agreement form to fill out. I had to register an account on their website (https://Account.LausDe.com) and the agreed upon salary was $2499/month for the first 60 days and then $2999/month after, and $4000/month if more than 50 packages were shipped, paid through bank transfer, paypal, western union, or check.

For the first 2 weeks everything seemed legitimate as I received 4 packages and stayed in contact with my "Supervisors" through email. I should have been suspicious when I noticed that I was receiving shipments under different names, however, because I soon stopped receiving packages and contact became very minimal. As the end of my first 30 days of employment came near, their account website (https://Account.LausDe.com) and their regional website (https://NorthAmerica.LausDe.com) were both down. In addition, I could no longer reach them by email as their email domain was shut down as well ([email protected]). Their phone numbers also became inactive.

Although they didn't get any money from me or any of my personal information beyond my name, address, phone numbers, and emails, I wasted a lot of time and energy thinking I was employed under their fake company. It seems they setup this scam in order to get people to ship packages for them, most likely so that it cannot be traced back to them. In retrospect, I could have been shipping drugs or other illegal substances hidden within the contents of what I believed were legitimate orders.

If you are contacted by LausDe or are offered a similar job DO NOT RESPOND.
