These people have been tracking me down. They sent me collections letters for different balances, all claiming to be from Wells Fargo. They sent me letters while I was stationed in Germany, Texas, and in school in Philadelphia. the final straw was when they called my parents, and they gave me a concerned call asking if I was in debt. I was thoroughly embarrassed. I did a credit check with Experien. There were no debts on there that I wasn't aware of already. I then called Wells Fargo, who referred me to their debt collections departments for both credit lines and bank accounts. They told me that my accounts had been closed in good standing back in 2002, just like I originally thought. My credit line was still open with no balance until that call, when I closed it in good standing. After calling Mitchell N. Kay, I gave them my new address only, and told them to send me a letter stating exactly what they wanted so I could get some form of evidence of this scam. They just called me this evening again, giving me the 7 Penn Plaza address, but hanging up on me when I asked for a suite number. They're actually hanging up on me. Here is the contact information they gave me: 866-355-9587 7 Penn Plaza New York City, NY, 1001 or 10001. I am contacting the FTC like you advised, filling out a complete report, and following up with the credit agencies. I will file a police report as soon as I'm home just to get some kind of documentation on the matter. I know they can't do much, but the documentation always helps if you're forced to go to court over it. What these people have done to me is nothing short of harassment, and it's a scam.
