I booked LD Movers.com to relocate me from Bridgewater Massachusetts to Seffner Florida. Below is the Contract
Good Morning Jodi,
Let me know if this confirmation is ok.
Your move is scheduled for pick-up on February 8, 2003. The origin is ** Meadow Lane -Bridgewater, MA. 02324 and the destination is *** Field Lane -Seffner, FL. The estimated total pounds for your move is 7686. The
cost per pound is .30 cents or $2305.80. To date, we have received your 30% deposit in the amount of $691.74. At pick-up, there will be a 40% deposit due-$922.32 and the balance, final 30% of $691.74 at delivery.
These payments can be made in the form of cashiers check, money order or certified check.
At pick-up you will be presented with a "Bill of Lading" (contract) for your review and signature.

The day before my move I had not heard from dispatch so decided to call myself. I was told by Danny that LD movers would be there in between 10am and 12noon. At approx 12:45pm a Ryder truck pulled up to my apartment.
A gentleman by the name of Erik came to my door and asked if he could see the furniture being moved. He inspected the furniture in my home as well as the furniture from a storage bin on another moving van parked next to there RYDER truck.
He came in and told me it would cost me $400 to wrap my furniture. He also told me that I had more than what was origianaly estimated and told me the cost would be $4,000 for the entire move. This would have gone above and beyond my original estimate by almost 90%.
I asked Erik why his companies estimate was off by so much and he stated that LD Movers was not his company, that LD Movers was a Broker Service. He explained that my stuff would be loaded onto this Ryder truck, be transported to a storage bin until a much larger truck would be loaded with several clients for the journey to FL. LD Movers would then get 20% of whatever this company they brokered me out to would get paid.
Erik stayed in my apartment for 1.5 hours trying to strike deals with me. He wanted me to forget about LD movers and work directly with his company for them to get full profit (talk about cut throat business).
After 1.5 hours of telling him I was not interested in working with 2 dishonest companies I asked him to leave.
I spoke with LD Movers today who refuses to give me my deposit back. He challenged me to take him to court. In Danny's words "Don't try to be a smart lady"!
LD Movers will give you a low ball estimate knowing they are going to broker your business out to a company who will charge a MUCH higher rate. They will get 20% of that higher rate for doing NOTHING. LD Movers doesnt touch your furniture.
Your deposit is not refundable! If you don't use the company they contracted your business to, you are stuck with the costs of taking them to court.
If you are going to pay top dollar use a reputable company like American or May Flower. If you are going to pay top dollar for your move why not use honest people.
