Chronicle of Events

1)On the first week of June, I was contacted from Josh from Leeways after posting my information at relocation portal site. He promised me that all relocation cost will be flat fee of $1,000 and it will be same day service.

2)The next day I talked with Josh, I called him and confirmed whether it will be same day service and flat fee of $1,000. I raised concern of not listed on Better Business Bureau but he said it was because his company is only 5 months-old and they need 3 year requirement to be listed. He also mentioned there will be no problem because it is standard (and small) one room to one room moving. I paid $1,000 lump sum over the phone.

3)2 days before the moving, I called Erica and gave her my new address. I asked her whether it will be the same day service and she said there will be no problem.

4)On the moving day, Lior and Mike came. When I told them it was same day service, they called the company and it will take one day (Sunday). He called the leasing office of North Park Avenue Apartment to reserve the elevator. The person who talked with Lior is the Manager of the apartment, Kim Luk. They charged me $100 saying that my stuff went over the square-feet even though the company promised me flat fee of $100. I paid $100 with cash and tipped movers $100.

5)On Sunday, I called Lior to ask the time of their arrival. He said the truck with my stuff is having problem in Philadelphia such as oil leakage and over-heated engine.

6)In the middle of the week, I didn't hear anything from Leeways. I called Erica and she told me since there had been a lot of orders and deliveries over the weekend I was moving, all the deliveries were delayed. She told me it will take a few days but declined to give me specific date.

Inconveniences caused

1)Since they lied about the delivery date, I couldn't have deal with companies that gave me better deals. Also, I don't have proper clothes for work, place to sleep, chair to seat, TV and so on. It was extreme situation without my stuff for more than 1 week.

2)Unnecessary purchases: I have to or had to buy suits for work, shower curtains, chairs, air mattresses and pumps, dishes, glasses and contact lenses

3)Loss of food with sentimental value: Since they promised me the same day (or next day) delivery, I put the food that can stand 3-4 days into the moving truck. They are impossible to find in the United States and my father and grand-mother prepared them jointed for me. Even though the amount lost will be less than $350, I feel very upset over the loss of the food I cherish.

4)I had to sleep on the hard floor for 1 week.

- If they have told me the true delivery date, all those events could have been prevented by proper packing.

Questions to ask

1)The location of my stuff. I am willing to drive to get my stuff because it is causing extreme inconvenience.

2)Why did they promise the same day delivery? If they gave me reasonable delivery date, I would have packed accordingly (food, clothes, and futon) and could have prevented loss.

3) Who are the managers and owner of the company? - When I asked for the management, Erica told me to call back in 2 hours and half. After I asked her the extension number and name of the management, she said Josh and she are the management of the company.

4) One guy is telling me my delivery date is late because of truck problem and customer service is telling me it is not coming because they had a lot of orders last week.

5)What is really happening and when I am getting my stuff back?

A response to the mud dragger ..Are you a scammer as well?

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Tue, August 03, 2004

I am an ex-employee of this company as well. I am sorry that people can actually say things like that about Adam. If there is a decent person that worked for that company it is Adam. Maybe because he is just a web-designer? That is all he is. The fact that he put up his full name shows you that he has nothing to be ashamed of and that he has done nothing wrong. Any scamming company has a bank account. Does that make the banks all scammers? Should the banks name be dragged in mud? The only thing that adam did was design their website. Besides if you were scammed by them than you must have supported them financially. Are you a scammer as well?

To Adam, think you need some jail time with them

Hello, Adam, I am the individual who reported. Don't worry. Rip-off report has my e-mail address and phone number. To be honest with you, I didn't even know you (not to mention your full name) before you commented on this website. Why are you shooting your own foot? I wish the best luck with the lawsuit against the Leeways. They deserve it and I hope you save yourself out of all mud over there. You will if you are that innocent as you claim but if you are one of the scammers and threateners (well, Josh calls me at my work if I have my cell off), I think you need some jail time with them.

Hi Ma name is Adam Nesher. I am a web developer. Among many other sites I have also worked on the Leeways web site. That is why my name appears as the Technical contact on the web site. I am not Josh nor do I have anything to do with the business practice of the company. And I would thank you if you would stop dragging my name through the mud without any just cause. Thank you very much. [Place your comments below and be sure to include your FULL contact information so Rip-off Report can contact you.]

VERY IMPORTANT Follow-up.. What happened on the moving day (Never be home alone, don't let movers come into your property!!!)

#6Author of original report

I am so happy that someone decided not to move Leeways after reading the report. That's exactly what I want and I would like to protect you from danger and emotional turbulence. Also, very importantly, if you gave your credit or debit card information to them, close it IMMEDIATELY. NEVER LET JUNKIES INTO YOUR PROPERTY! Erica promised that movers would come the next day between 8:00 am and 10 am after talking to the corporate lawyer of mine. After consulting with an administrative staff, two of the co-workers came to my house to protect me in case something happens. And, forks, I thank God they did The movers didn't come until 1pm. When they came, they insisted that I need to pay them $75 dollars right now or they can't move anything. I saw them and I got totally shocked. They were so high on cracks and they couldn't even talk right. The other mover couldn't even work and he was leaning his head on the window of the truck and didn't seem to know where he was. My co-workers and I decided not to let movers in and we decided to move the stuff ourselves. I would like to ask Josh and Erica, would you let those guys move stuff if your daughter is moving by herself. They told me to sign $600 of my bill and I refused. I said I would do it after I consult with my corporate lawyer and I examine the damages on my stuff. They said to sign the contract which says my balance is zero (don't understand, why I should sign $600 when my balance is zero?) I refused to sign it and they said they will not leave if I don't sign it. I was so panicky to read anything that time and asked them what I am signing. They said I am only signing that the balance is zero (there are two witnesses for that). After 2 hours, I came to senses and I found out that they forged my contract. The guaranteed delivery date was crossed out and changed into N/A. Before signing it, I told the movers to sign the document stating that they came and they unloaded my stuff but they didn't move it to my apartment. They refused but after I said I won't sign anything before they sign, one of the guys (claiming foreman) signed. Then, I insisted the other guy sign and he said that guy is just his friend. I said if that is true, will you sign the document saying that Leeways sent only one mover and he brought a friend. Then, he let the other guy sign it too. They started to use f-words and they said they were just movers that don't know anything. (later on, I found out that they were the ones that threaten people, steal things, do the drugs at client's property and urinate on client's couch. There was another moving company there and after the movers from another company saw us moving stuff bare hand, they let us borrow furniture moving cart and they gave hand to us. After they saw how my stuffs were packed, they told me they were not movers. After I saw my stuff after moving them to my house, I couldn't help crying. The couch that my mother read bible for me was torn apart, the leg of the desk that my best friend gave me was broken and the dish that my great aunt gave me when I came to the states to study was broken even though I packed it in 3 layers of paper, 2 layers of bubble wraps and 3 layers of newspaper again. It's mysterious that it can break. The damages on my stuffs are too many to mention and it took 2 disposable cameras to picture all of them. The monetary value doesn't mean that much for me. Those items are parts of myself with memories and sentimental values. I also have another family's stuff and don't know how to get the thing back to this poor family. Never be home by yourself and if you can, please bring friends who can speak Hebrews. They are Israelis and talk in Hebrews. If you can, I think you have right to ask police to drug test the movers from Leeways. Anyways, DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!

JOSH IS LYING ABOUT LISA

#7Consumer Comment

Sun, July 11, 2004

Yes I sure do know that "LISA" is "LISA GARSON." I believe that JOSH uses this names so he doesn't get into trouble. No one has ever been able to reach Lisa Garson. Erica Mercado said that Lisa "doesn't work there." Very sketchy. This means that Erica is lying for Josh.

Wanda, do you know these people?

#11Consumer Suggestion

Sat, July 10, 2004

Wanda, thanks for the inside scoop on these crooks. Tell me, when you worked there, did you ever know a Lisa or an Adam (I won't write their last names for privacy's sake)? Leeways' phone number is registered to a Lisa at the same address as Leeways, and the website manager is named Adam. I was wondering if Lisa and Adam are the same people as Josh and Erica, or if they are other employees. Many times the scammers use other names thatn thir real ones when working with clients.

Leeways Is Guilty of Everything

#12UPDATE EX-employee responds

Sat, July 10, 2004

I am an ex employee of Leeways and I watched them rent trucks from different companies and not pay for unlimited mileage and then drive the trucks all over the country and then turn the odometers back. That is only some of the illegal things that were done by this company. Everyone in there knows what is going on and they still choose to work there - meaning they are all going to be guilty when the time comes. Erica Mercado tries to be nice but she knows what is happening so don't trust a thing she tells you. Josh had no idea how a business should be run but he will find out soon. He is a liar and is rude and isn't even legal. This company has only been around for 6 months and won't be around much longer.

License was revoked during your move

#13Consumer Suggestion

Tue, July 06, 2004

Yun, Leeway's license was revoked on May 24th, and reinstated on June 24th. If they called you to be hired onJune 2nd, that was ILLEGAL. If they move you during that time, that was ILLEGAL. Call 1-888-DOT-SAFT to report them to the Department of Transportation. You were right about them not having a BBB report. But he lied to you about a business needing three years to get a report. You can be a BBB member after only one year, so why would you have to wait an extra two years beyond that to get a report? They have no report because the NY BBB does not know about them yet. Write to them and tell them all the info you have on them, names, addresses, phone numbers, website addresses, etc, along with your complaint. Start off their fresh new report with a big blemish.
