To all and Leonardo DiCaprio:
I am the original author of this report and as a constant movie goer, I have seen how Hollywood has paid millions to actors and has put movie theater businesses and people behind the set on the sidelines when it comes to pay. Yes Leonardo DiCaprio is making millions for little work effort, I think we can all agree to that.
Because I haven't seen much publicity on this subject because I believe the media which owns Hollywood probably wishes not to make this important subject, if there was some media on it, I am sure a lot of people would be outraged.
However I am not a cruel person and really I don't like to bash people but this subject had me really upset on how people can make this kind of money. So with that, I am basically going to put this behind me and say I am sorry for making this report.
I am sure Leonardo DiCaprio is a nice guy and I am sure maybe not all the money he gets is want he wishes for, maybe his agent and agent company are part of the taking as like all actors have to share their earnings.
When I wrote about this report, I was feeling sorry for the movie theaters struggling to pay their bills to rent expensive films because of expensive production costs and the people behind the set not making a decent living when around expensive actors. I wish there was some kind of divide and they would share everything between the people in place behind the set and the theaters were all part of instead of the actors getting all the money.
So I am going to put this complaint I made a couple of years ago behind me and say I am sorry for making this report, i was really trying to get people talking about it and that was really my main reason.
Please accept my apologies for making this report; I am sorry I did so, if I could remove it I would.
I wish Mr. Leonardo DiCaprio the best in his future and I am sorry for this report.

I think your missing the point about the authors point of view on the salary Leonardo Dicaprio is making and what other people are making to compare to. Personally I think this kind of money is too much money, what are you going to do making $20 million per movie contract if you put it in the hands of the average American makes a year? There is only so much money in the US GDP, when you pay for one person that means you have to cut on the other end. The only way to flow more money in is for the Federal Reserve to print more money, causing inflation.
Leonardo Dicaprio never served in the military and donates very little out of the money he makes, what good is he doing for America if the rest of the country is struggling? I think the point of how many people it takes to pay $20 million dollars in a amount of days verses one person making $20 million dollars in 2 months of work behind the set. No wonder why the unemployment is so high in Amercia, businesses can't afford to pay other people when the boss gets too much.
I think the outcry of his salary makes perfect sense because the incomes people make in the United States and for actors to take in millions is simply not fair to the rest of the population. How hard do they work really? Leonardo Dicaprio?
The economy is impacted with Hollywood giving out high salaries to actors and the rest of the people working in films with 2 and 3 jobs making not so much to support themselves or their families. These Hollywood companies should be making cuts on their salaries like the rest of the nation has to do too. I think there would be a lot more people working in this country is Leonardo Dicaprio was not earning $100+ million a year. That cost money to produce that money from somewhere. Making people pay more does not help but cause more problems to find ways to pay more for something that can but cut. I mean you want Congress to cut back on the deficit and spending but what are you willing to accept for a tax increase to pay for something if it is important or not and many expenses are not necessary. On actors, its the same thing, you really don't need to hire expensive actors, there are many more talented actors that only $15 to $100.00 an hour but wanting so much for a small role, yes I agree with the author on this one, $20 million is too much.
Lastly, its not about the ticket price, you can spend the same amount on one $30 million dollar to a $200 million dollar movie. The point is that Leo Dicaprio is one of many overpaid actors from what other people do behind the set that are really making the film are not getting anything near the actor.
If you invented a product, you made it, you produced it, you marketed it but then you hire an actor to advertise it, he wants a huge percentage of the take. The actor never invented the product or anything in that sorted of matter but wants his cut from it. If you owned something and somebody wanted a huge part of your product and a royality for it, how would you feel and two, if the product does not sell well, you stil have to pay the actor.

Movie ticket prices are clearly posted and you are under no obligation to purchase one. You are also under no obligation to either accept or maintain a job that you don't feel provides adequate compensation for the work or skill you provide to the employer. DiCaprio has done what you have failed to do, put a high price tag on his skill. A producer has the same choice with an actor that you have with movie ticket, which is not pay a cent and go shopping elsewhere. Your problem isn't with DiCaprio it's with Capitalism.

I, like the other reader here sat and stared at this report for a few minutes before replying. WHAT??? Lol Leo makes a salary. He's paid by the studio. It's not fair to make a rip off report about him. If you feel that way, put all the actors here also.
It's very very simple you mooron. If the ticket sales are too much for your little wallet, then stay home and do a cross word puzzle. This is perhaps the most idiotic report ever. Stoopid, stoopid, stoopid.

Why are you picking on little Leo? All the mega-stars do it. You must have some fixation on him. He does do a lot of charity work, so I'm told.

You sound mighty jealous. He is a wonderful actor. Why aren't you going after Clooney, or any of the multitudes of actors that make millions?
Stop being so jealous.

every hour in a full year. That's how much a banker made in 2010!
There are 8,760 hours in a year, correct? (24 hours in a day x 365 days in a year = 8,760 hours in a year.)
If we multiply $570,780.00 per hour times 8,760 hours we get $5,000,032,800.00 (That's five billion thirty-two thousand eight hundred dollars.)
That's how much a banker made in 2010.
Anyone can 'Google' this- PAULSON PROFITS $5 BILLION IN 2010: REPORT, and read the related articles on the web for proof, right?

OK, You've made your point.
Now please understand that you don't get to tell anyone what movies they go to.
There are a lot more serious problems in the world besides what some actor (among many) gets paid. Let it go and worry about yourself. It's not a fair world, get over it.

Leonardo DiCaprio is ripping off the American economy with his $31,000.00 an hour pay.
You good it this to pay him so much if that if the average of Americans make in one year is $31,000.00.
It is terrible that greed is placed first before the struggling. The middle class are on a think line
in this country but too pay excess amount of dollars for nothing like Leonardo DiCaprio is a waste of
US money.
Leonardo DiCaprio try living on $31,000.00 a year and see what 183 million people live on in America at $31,000.00 or $2583.00 a month.

Titanic has grossed (so far) over 1.8 Billion dollars. Half goes to the movie theater owners, 900 million, and half goes to the studio(s) that made the film, 900 Million Dollars. It cost 200 million to make. That leaves 700 Million profit for the studios that made the film, and 900 Million pumped into the economies of cities worldwide. All for a measly 20 Million Dollar salary.
d**n...what a $&#^$&# scumbag that guy is. The OP I mean, the obviously failed actor-slash-waiter-slash-stalker who just KNOWS that he could wipe up the acting floor with Leo's face, if only he could talk to the right person.
OP. When, exactly, was the last time you had a job where you produced One Billion, Seven Hundred Eighty Million Dollars (so far) more income than the salary you received? In fact, when was the last time you had a job, period?

Why just Leonardo DiCaprio? Many actors make zillions. Don't go to the movies, that's all you can do about it, it's been going on for many decades.

Leonardo DiCaprio is basically scamming people in Hollywood!
The actor is only an actor. He doesn't save lives, he's not a doctor
or a president, just an actor but making more money with income on one
film that would pay his retirement and 100 more people plenty to
live on. Hollywood is the sucker to pay him $20 million dollars a movie.
Fire the actor! Hire a new actor and set his or her limit because
Leonardo Dicaprio wants too much that people simply cannot afford
to pay him this money.

Where to start on this - your posting is very detailed and thorough but I don't see a rip-off here. All the movie ticket prices are about the same whether he's in the movie or not.
What products endorse films that he is in and how much more expensive are they?
So he should just make that kind of money when there isn't a recession?
Maybe there are a few indy films he agreed to be in for union scale only.

$8 and hour extras in the movie world. One that SAG is happy to have as a dues paying member.
Gotta love the unions.
The salary and benefits people receive for their work are based on their value to the ones paying the money.
Pretty obviously, your talents aren't worth as much.
You could, get over yourself, but, nah, it's more fun to feel sorry for yourself.
