Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Went to CrossFit Clearwater for a total of two months.  This place is ridiculously dirty and quite honestly not in the greatest area. The dirt on the floor is a combination of dust and chalk which they apparently have no interest in cleaning.  Which made me think......"What else is on that floor......ringworm.....MERSA.....who knows.  They had dirt on the floor to the point that it made it hard to breathe while exercising.  Also, this place exhibits no interest in warming you up adequately or injury prevention.  I was made to feel like a second rate member because I wasn't part of his "competitive" clique.  When I brought up some of my concerns, I was simply told "If you don't like it then leave"  This guy seems to be trying to compensate for an inadequate personality with his physicality, which is lacking as well.  Hard to train somewhere that is owned by a man who needed a shoulder replacement because of his own routines.  My advice, run from this arrogant *** and stick to the Get Fitness or LA Fitness or maybe another crossfit gym close like CrossFit Rebels. Just wanted to save others from having the same horrible experience and possibly getting hurt at CrossFit Clearwater.

I cannot believe someone took to the internet to tarnish the reputation and persona of dear Les Porter and Clearwater Crossfit.  Must have been a lot of negativity in your life during the Spring, to think targeting this amazing man and his business was something fruitful and productive.  Please know, ma'am, that you do not know this man and his purpose ... because if you did indeed know him...you would know where he stands with all of us who attend CF.  He is a selfless individual when it comes to taking care of his herd.  His herd is 100% of those who attend CF at his facility.

I was overweight (understatement), out of shape, 45 years old, and desperate for a change in my life - that focused on daily exercise and motivation.  I first came to Les/CF April 2015 - but did not come regularly until early July 2015.  I have been to "the box" no less than 4 times a week since then, and am working my way up to 6 days a week on a regular basis. I have received the BEST instruction that I could wish for.  Les and his staff are there for all of us.  I am THE WEAKEST member of CF currently, yet somehow today when I was the last one to run in from our outside running workout...I felt like Jesse Owens in the Olympics.  The entire class, Les included, cheering me on.  It is the best value for the money that I could ever imagine.  My goal is to drop 25 pounds and be a powerhouse full of muscle.  What do we have to lose at this age and point in our lives?  I am so completely grateful for Les, his amazing wife, his staff, and the people who are in the most outrageously, awesome shape there.  To fist bump with CF Games atheletes every day I am there as we are doing our workouts, is a sky-high feeling.

Come back and try it out again.  And expect the box to be dirty.  Good heavens, I would never want Les to stay after every day to completely clean his gym and miss out on time with his beautiful family.  A cleam gym is weird (my opinion).  When I see signs of work and sweat, that fires me up!  Doesn't it fire you up?  With all that said...I think the box is actually pretty clean for being a place where a large portion of the workouts involve immense sweating and bringing in the elements from outside.  Honestly, I have been there since April 21, and never once thought it was unusually dirty.

Best,

Amy Worman, proud CF Clearwater member

Look I am a busy mother of three and really don't have time or money to waste.  I had a bad experience.  My name wasn't important when i was there so i don't feel it is now either.  bottom line, i was upset because i felt like i didn't matter because i wasn't one of the select elite.  I am not the only woman to feel this way.  I felt neglected and i honestly wouldn't know about the coaching because i didn't experience it.  To all who read this ignore my ringworm and mersa comments, but honestly it was very dirty so my point was "how would you feel comfortable thinking otherwise?"  I wish i could have had the experience that you did, but I get more attention now at OTF.  We'll chalk it up to a bad fit.  and honestly your offer for lunch is a little inappropriate and creepy.

To the person who anonymously posted about this, first off why wouldn't you want anyone knowing who you are? Second this sounds more like you have a personal vendetta with the owner not the facility in itself. I have been doing Crossfit for a little over 3 years now and have been in multiple different boxes and have never seen a coach more involved in safe movement than Les Porter is. Not only showing me safer ways to lift but the reasoning behind it. About the dirty gym, yes for the month of April I can agree the gym was a little on the dirtier side, but I can GUARANTEE you no on, not one person ever got ring worm, mersa, or any other kind of disease. I am there twice a day doing workouts and know every single person in that gym by their first name and not one person got any kind of skin disease. As for the owners injury, I'm unaware of what story you have heard but I'm pretty sure he has had that injury since before he started coaching, over 5 years ago. I was working out there for 5 months before I knew he had a shoulder injury and told me he was going into surgery. I was shocked because in no way did this hinder his coaching ability. Furthermore if you decide to stop hiding behind an anonymous blog I would love to speak to you about your opinions over lunch one day.
