I purchased a new 20 mil. liner from Leslie's and 1 week after they installed it, there were wrinkles in the liner. After arguing with the District Manger for sometime, they sent the installers back out and they came with a plunger and dove down several time attempting to pull the wrinkles out which they never did.

I finally just consoled myself that they were there to stay. Well, I noticed the shallow end had several rough places when you walked on the bottom and later, developed 3 wrinkles in the shallow end. This past summer, I started losing water to the tune of about 4 inches or more a day.

After about a month of having to add water and chemicals constantly, I finally discovered the hole. It was about a quarter size. We attempted to patch the hole and thought the problem was solved, however, we still kept losing about an inch or so daily.

After contacting the District Manager several times with no return to my phone call, I finally called the Regional Manager. He got the District Manager to send out someone to investigate a week later. The young man spent several hours investigating the pool and found 7 more holes in the liner.

Now, they are telling me that insects are eating thorough the liner!!!! For Goodness sakes, everyone has insects. I am saying the liner is faulty and was cut too small as the seams do not fit against the wall. They are approximately 4 inches away from the wall in the shallow end where, by the way the major hole is.

8 holes in liner & seams setting away from wall surface

Chances are, Leslies MAY BE CORRECT... I live in Southern Alabama, and around here, the #1 hole producer in pool liners is Termites, and/or ants. Seems BOTH of these insect types are attracted to something within the liner material, and will sometimes eat them almost like candy. I have about 10 years pool liner installation experience... Complaint stated he was sure the liner was too small because the seams are away from the pool wall. That description sounds, to an experienced liner installer, like he might be 1/2 right... If the pool was properly measured for the liner, the floor seam should be within 3/4 inch of the pool wall. But, the other possibility is that some companies I've installed for, would send in the measurements with floor dimensions intentionally slightly undersized, but pool wall height intentionally slightly oversized, claiming better fit and liner life cause then, the undersized floor pulls the wall in, allowing water pressure to get more pull to pull the liner wall tight against the structure... I won't mention any names, but I've noticed some liners I've ordered appear that some of the liner manufacturers intentionally cut their liners similarly, with the wall material intentionally extending several inches onto the pool floor to have the water pressure pull the walls tighter. I'm assuming holes were in the walls... If in the floor, may have been partially faulty installation if roughness can be felt through the liner... The surface under the liner should be almost totally smooth, or rough spots can poke holes in the liner. Wrinkles the installers were unable to work out would indicate if anything, the liner is slightly OVER-sized (too big) for the pool, not too small. Too small would result in few, if any wrinkles.
