Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
This company's business is printing vinyl letters for various applications, including boats, which is my interest.

I contacted this company as a result of a referral from a contact who used their services. He gave me the details of his order, including the price.

I contacted them with the details of my order, which included a font they didn't have in their font list, and asked them for a quote. They asked me to email the font, which I did, and then sent me a quote which was significantly higher than the rates advertised on their website.

I questioned it, and was told that there was a "conversion" fee for the font. Now, as everybody knows, installing a TTF font takes exactly 3 seconds, if you are doing it slowly. Even without the "conversion" fee, the rate was still higher than the advertised numbers. The people there became progressively more nasty, until I stopped wasting my time with them. This is the text of the last email they sent

"Thanks for spreading the word, We fixed the web site. we have been selling letters for 26 years, we know our client base, and boat owners are always hard to work with, never happy always complaining about something and always trying to spend the least. Thank you again , please spread the word."

An honest vendor will honor the posted prices, won't add in hidden fees, and certainly won't be unpleasant to a potential customer. I guess they all stayed home on the day business ethics and ettiquette was taught.

Here is a link with no hidden prices, and yes we did just add the $15 file conversion charge, on this page mrletter.com/fonts01.htm read the first paragraph. Read this first paragraph on this page also mrletter.com/price.htm read it slowly so you understand, set up charge conversion charge, whatever you want to call it, your order was not a basic vinyl letter order. Again read it slowly out loud , and then call us dishonest.. dishonest, please. ... you can also check this page also and again read it slowly. mrletter.com/index.htm 5th bullet down .... here is another mrletter.com/logo.htm This charge is mentioned several times in our web site. This is in response to the gentleman who is accusing my company, Letters Unlimited of being nasty and unfair. I held the initial conversation with this gentleman, who was put off by the fact that we were charging him a fee to convert his file into a usable form for our production computer. He was upset by the fee and asked to speak to a manager. This is where my contact with him ends. However, I would like to interject my thoughts. I am having some plumbing work done at my home, and just for an estimate, I am being charged $50.00. This charge is just for the fact that the plumber is giving me his time and expertise, and rightly so. I do not expect a professional to donate his time to me, he has expenses to meet. The same is applicable in this situation. Our company needs to charge a fee for our services since our manager has continual and rising expenses of maintenance, inventory, payroll, etc. This is just a fact of business. I'm sorry that this gentleman feels he was treated unfairly, because we strive to please our customers. In closing we welcome all to visit our website and call our customer service if any questions arise. Thank you.

We deal with 100's of customers a week, a lot being new and unfamiliar with the lettering business. We do are best to calm customers who do not realize they are paying up to 200% less than retail sign shops, and are getting a great product delivered at the lowest price possible. Recently we had to implement a minimum order charge to try to keep up with rising costs of labor , delivery and material cost, and yes a file conversion charge, that we do not charge all the time it really depends on the size order. We have been charging this for several months (no one has complained most customers understand) and yes we recently added this to our site. The customer complaining about our service was insisting he knew more about how are business operates and how we were to charge him. He wanted many things from us a guaranteed color match, which we told him we could not do, he wanted us to tell him how long the one line of copy he wanted would be in different heights, with his font that he e-mailed, something else that only takes 3 seconds (that is satire just in case you have never used a pc) This gentleman has no clue what type of software we use. We use proprietor software and a true type font has to be converted in 3 steps,, employees generally do not punch out to do this, and insist upon getting payed for working (how strange). The gentleman was given a quote to begin with and called us complaining. (my friend payed less) his friend did not send a font. How is this dishonest? The order he wanted did not even meet are minimum order. The price is still lower than any other company selling this product. We are sure he found this out, that is probably why he is still complaining. Once a customer starts whining and complaining before we do any work for them we determine he is not worth having as a customer. In closing thanks for putting are phone number on your complaint we have already picked up a customer off it. After 20 some odd years selling these letters we have heard it all, this is just another one for the wall of fame. Thanks.
