In 2007 LifeTyme Exteriors install the Smartcoart exterior paint onto our house siding and window trims.
In 2010 we notice that areas around the window trim the paint was lifting and splitting and areas on the underside of the cladboards the paint splitting and peeling. We called Lifetyme to have them come and look at the problem spots but they only sent a letter after much calling saying that they would get to us during the next painting season.
In 2011 the areas have gotten worst and that the wood under the Smartcoat was starting to rot. After pestering Lifetyme several times over the phone a crew shows up one day unannounce and started slapping puddy over the rotten areas and paint that did not match the original color over the peeled spots of trim. We immediately halted the work. A person from Lifetyme came and took photos and said they would make everthing right. After waitng a month we filed a report to the BBB. A month later we receive a letter dated 1 week prior to our BBB complaint stating the problem was not covered under their warranty. BBB closed the complaint even after we protested.
Went to a lawyer to discuss our options and was told use that we could be tied up in court for years and never get restitution.
We now have to have several windows replaced and all the siding replaced on the house due to the rotten wood under the paint. The warranty is useless. The company does not stand by their product. I would strongly recommend anyone looking at this product to run away as fast as you can.
