Liquid Packaging Solutions, Inc. DON'T BUY MACHINERY FROM LPS! They took a $27,592 down payment for a machine, never delivered it, and won't respond or refund our money LaPorte, Indiana
My company put a 40% down payment - $27,592 on December 12, 2011 for an automatic bottle capping machine which was scheduled to be ready for inspection at the beginning of March, 2012. As of June 29, 2012 the machine has not been completed nor have we seen any evidence that the machine exists. Our contact at Liquid Packaging Solutions, Don Timm, has repeatedly gone for weeks without updating us or responding to email or telephone calls. He has not shown us any pictures, video, or any other evidence that the machine is now or has ever been a work in progress, and he has not communicated since May 23, 2012. We were very patient at first when it sounded like things were mostly on-track. As the delays started getting longer with less and then no explanation, it became clear that for whatever reason, Liquid Packaging Solutions does not have the intention and/or ability to deliver the machine. I have formally demanded our money back and filed complaints with the BBB and PMMI (Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute, which they are a member of), but I have received no response from Don Timm or anyone else at Liquid Packaging Solutions so far.
We are a small business, and this is a large amount of money for us to lose. I don't know if Liquid Packaging Solutions purposefully defrauded us, used our money for other expenses or someone else's project and ran out before they could build ours, or if there is some other explanation, but the fact is we are out $27,592.00 with NOTHING to show for it and no explanation or communication from the company. We will almost certainly have to sue to recover our money.
When I Googled Liquid Packaging Solutions before giving them this contract, I didn't find any negative information about them. I want to make sure that if someone else considers hiring Liquid Packaging Solutions to build a machine, they can find this report and think again about believing Don Timm's promises and giving money to this unscrupulous company.

In the interest of clarity, I want to again state that the Ketan labeler was purchased through Busch Machinery. We directly paid Busch Machinery, but Ketan Automated is the entity that manufactured and supplied the labeler, tested it with our products, shipped it to us, and consistently failed to support us.

I received a call from Teresa, the owner of Liquid Packaging Solutions a few hours after posting this report and sending her a link. She apologized and said that they had some very large projects which had been taking all of their time, and their various suppliers were giving unusually long lead times.
She agreed to send me a check for the full amount of our down payment, $27,592.00. She also told me that the machine was 3/4 done, that they would continue to work on it and finish it, and that once it was finished, we could come inspect it and purchase it if we like it or decline if it didn't meet our expectations. I think that is a very reasonable offer, and I was pleased to accept it.
The check arrived yesterday, and I deposited it. Assuming it clears, I am happy with the response I received after writing this report, although I wish I hadn't had to write it at all. I will update this further as events warrant.
