We bought a Heartland Elkridge Fifth Wheel from Longview RV Dealership in Dover, Florida in March 2011.  Big mistake. Annoying problems like wall panels coming loose, trim falling off, outlets not working, converter broke, steps coming loose, refrigerator panel falling off, etc.  Major problems like black tank dump valve leaking, kitchen slide not working and destroying floor when used, major roof leak into the rear wall where the interior wall has deteriorated so that you can push your finger right through it.  We have used this RV 3 times and it's been in our possession for 5 of the 9 months we've owned it.  What other problems are to come?

We made the 4 hour drive twice now to Longview RV to fix these issues (except the leak which we just discovered one day after it was in their care for 6 weeks).  They say it's all fixed, but when we arrive we find they've fixed almost nothing (they did get us a microwave dish that was missing and repaired an outlet or two).  We take the RV, still in disrepair, as we have a trip planned, then drop it off again after our trip, so it can sit on their lot for another 6 weeks.  They have had our RV for 4 of the 9 months we've owned it and we are about to drop it off again.

Heartland was just as bad.  They did not stand by their product.  We asked for a 6-12 month warranty extension given that our problems MIGHT be fixed just as our warranty ends.  After 30 minutes of convincing them, they begrudgingly agreed to extend our warranty for 4 months.  They must be terrified at the prospect of standing by their product for an additional 6-12 months.  Only they know the quality of their work-- I can only assume it's shoddy since they would not agree to a further warranty extension.  They must know that the expense to them for the repairs (assuming Longview ever decides to do them) will be outrageous if they stand by their product for an extra 6 -12 months.

This appears to be intentional warranty-stalling. This dealership, in partnership with Heartland, the manufacturer, is not making the repairs and keeping our RV for months so that our warranty will expire.  Let's see if Longview fixes the problems this time and if they will offer us an extended warranty on the work they perform.
