Here are just some…repeat just some, of the many facts regarding this matter – note that these are not in chronological order:
Doreen Lindgren Of Look Image School aka Look Image Academy’s website use to say,” Check with your state laws and requirements OR contact us to learn how.” So contacted her to learn how and I relied on her personal and professional knowhow – in other words, the latter option. The fact that there was a, “or contact us” I followed that direction and her instructions and moved forward with taking her class. She was very persuasive leading me to believe she had the vast knowledge and correct information. Doreen, since my enrollment she has changed her website, after the facts and my issues, and now puts a quasi-disclaimer regarding this issue and got rid of the,”or contact us” statement on her website (but I have printed out and save the previous statement prior to her website changes). She still knows that NJ is one of the two only states that require students to go to an AAM or SPCP schools that are currently certified by their organizations. With there being only two states out of the 50 I am sure Doreen is well aware of this fact but chooses to deceive the public and withhold this information, rather than putting in the disclaimer that her school is not recognized in NJ as well as the other state.Rhoad Island General Laws 20.0 ADVERTISING 20.1 No person or establishment licensed under the statutory and regulatory provisions herein shall advertise by written or spoken words of a character tending to deceive or mislead the public.

When I contacted Look Image Academy, Doreen Lindgren told me she would teach me how to get licensed in NJ and that she has had many students that came from NJ. She led me to believe that this was factual. Only recently after several promises made by Doreen Lindgren that she would get back to me with the information did she provide me with only one out of the many she claimed several people who went to Look Image from NJ. When I spoke to that person she was not licensed to work in NJ either and was also having issues and was a recent graduate of Doreen’s school. Doreen then continued to tell me people that had gone through her school that were licensed in NJ called it “Semi-permanent makeup tattooing” to get around the rules of the NJ Board Of Health in Trenton. This does not work and is a false statement from her and possibly fraud.
One of the NJ requirements is to be an AAM certified school. Doreen Lindgren mislead me when she said she is highly accredited and a part of the American Academy Of Micropigmentology (aka as the AAM), but did not divulge prior to my enrolment and in the beginning of my issues that she was no longer a member. When I found out she was no longer an active member with the AAM she said she did not want to pay their dues to be a member with them anymore. I offered to pay for her to make her dues current and she still refused. I have since found out that she has not been a member since 2008.
When seeking to get my licensing here in NJ, I then learned that the AAM and SPCP were the only two recognized organizations to which you have to either go to one of their schools or get trained by one of their active members. Testing is only via the AAM and/or one of their own approved schools or the SCPC. When I called the AAM, they were well aware who my instructor was and filled me in with her questionable background and lack of continuing education and defiance to adhere with the rules and regulations and other negative issues they had and continue to have as well with the Look Image School. I have since been contacted by other individuls also having major issues with Doreen Lindgren and Look Image Academy/ Look Image School.
Doreen Lindgren said she would send me a list for all the clients I did work on at her school but instead only sent a single blank medical form and verbally told me to make several copies and put just anyone’s name on it. This is fraudulent and unethical at best! She also sent me pictures of people that were NOT my client/ models from her Florida school even though I attended the one in Rhode Island and told me I could use these people as my client lists and just make up names. Again this is fraud she wanted me to commit. Who are these people? Where are my client's?Rhoad Island General Laws Title 11-4.0 GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL APPLICANTS All applicants for licensure under these rules and regulations must meet the following requirements:4.3 be of good moral character; Asking me to commit fraud is not good moral character, as well as other other things mentioned herein.
I was told by the Rhoad Island's State Board Of Education, Look Image School/Doreen Lindgren were NOT nor EVER APPROVED as a school in RI through the Board of Education. I paid to learn tattoo removal and I find out that under no circumstance via the RI Board Of Health that this practice ISN'T EVEN ALLOWED in Rhode Island! So I have a useless piece of paper and paid for that class also!1.4 “School” shall mean a school approved under chapter 16-40 of the general laws of the state of Rhode. Doreen Lindgren of Look Image School Look Image Academy I don't believe is a National Instructor as she claims to be and advertises that she is. The last I looked NJ was part of the nation. What credentials does she have to back up her claim as being a National Instructor or is this a self-ordained title and a sham? I believe that this represents false advertising.
Doreen Lindgren of Look Image School threatened me with a letter from her attorney saying I was horrassing her when I was mearly calling to get her assistance prior to or after class hours and asking for a refund because I was not getting any results, which by the way is not harassment. Every time I called or texted she continued to lead me to believe she was there to help me and not to worry and that she had solutions. Unfortunately all her solutions were either fraudulent or dead ends.
Doreen Lindgren of Look Image School said that she didn't want to give my client/ model files to me because she would be in violation of HIPAA but Doreen did not even have any of models sign a HIPAA form regardless and claimed that the school is not required to have client/models sign one anyway. The Guide to Your Medical Rights in the State of Rhode Island states," The HIPAA Privacy Rule does not apply to everyone who keeps health information about you. Only health care providers (such as doctors and hospitals), health plans (such as health insurers and Medicare) and health care clearinghouses (organizations that put health information into or out of an electronic format) have to follow the HIPAA Privacy Rule. Other people (such as employers) generally do not have to follow the HIPAA Privacy Rule." and furthermore, “The HIPAA Privacy Rule sets standards that apply to records held by health care providers across the nation. Rhode Island law sets standards for records held by medical and osteopathic doctors and hospitals within the state. Most health care providers must follow both the HIPAA Privacy Rule and Rhode Island law." NOT her school.
In Doreen’s training manual it states that, “your employer is required to maintain and keep all medical and training records” and also that, “all client records should be kept for a minimum for five years…” but she will not release them to me for the use in obtaining my license and certification in New Jersey.
I was given the course manual while at the school and told that we are allowed to use this as well for ourselves in the future. These same forms in the manual were used at her school for the clients I worked on. The Client Release and Photography Copy Rights form that permits her to release the “use of any printed material or other material” of the models/clients and that the model/clients relinquishes the rights to any other materials that may be used in conjunction with the released images or use to which the released images may be applied and that the school is held harmless of her or any associates and so on. She denies me of these same materials needed for me to work in NJ or to go to another school.
The school also has in the manual that the client signed an “Authorization and Medical Release” form as well. Is it possible that these records were never kept? To the best of my knowledge, they have not been, since the school is not recognized here in NJ and possibly not even in Rhode Island, further illustrated by the failure to release my records on a timely basis.
To sum this all up. To no avail was I assited properly and is this school or it's Owner Instructor all what it is all cracked up to be and I would be weary of someone who's lacks a moral compass is is not accredited.
