Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
What happened to me tonight had all the earmarks of a scam masquerading under lawful pretenses. At 9pm last night I casually drove into a parking lot around the area of the above-mentioned company in order to buy a Taco from the food vendow that inhabits the same vicinity. I was barely 30 seconds talking to the vendor when the patron at the magazine and video store darted out without a word and booted my car.

He then pointed to an obscure sign at the far end of the lot which said private property. I believe there is a loophole somewhere in the law that allows this to happen to poor unsuspecting people.

I believe that the sign justifies his rights to do this but the zeal and intensity with which he pursued this rippoff needs investigating. The countries I remeber reading such malicious abuse of civil space was in Iraq and Afghanistan. Incidently the owner of this store is Muslim.

At any rate, in order to get my truck unbooted I had to pay $100 on the spot to this thief and I wasn't the first unsuspecting victim. The food patrons that inhabit the area say that many unsuspecting victims have fallen prey to this scam in the past.

I believe that this kind of Taliban-like behavior on the part of this businesses towards the public that they depend on is not healthy. If there is a loophole in the law regarding this matter it must be closed. Such a dishonest way of making quick and easy money out of a hardworking and unsuspecting public is a horrendous evil of untold proportion.

I hope you will have the fortitude to expose this great evil so that the innocent unsuspecting public will be warned. Thank You.

Now I've heard it all. What EXACTLY did sign say?

Good grief! Now I've heard it all. Now there's private citizens running around booting other people's vehicles? (In Los Angeles about 200 gangster booters -- and that's what they are --are actually City employees, not cops, who run around in the middle of the night and boot LEGALLY parked cars for their claimed purpose of the vehicle having been issued over 5 parking citations, unpaid, but the tickets are fraudulent and just part of their faulty "records.") What exactly did the sign say? Any other notice that unwelcome vehicles on the "private" lot would be booted or towed? Also, check into your SLC municipal code (no doubt available in the library) to see what SLC's laws are on this subject. If that bozo acted outside the law, take him to small claims court, if you have them there, to get your money refunded. That's the wildest thing I've heard yet.

How can you compare this to Afghanistan and Iraq? What kind of a bigot are you? Even if the owner of the store is Muslim you have no right for your comments? After what our country has gone through it is bigotsa like you that fuel the animosity in the country? If this tactic was illegal then take the man to court rather than bad mouthing him on this site. Wasn't there a "Legal" place to park to go up to this window. There are many stores that all have this type of sign. Maybe this store just got tired of jerks like you taking up space on "HIS" property?
