On April 12, 2017, I purchased a new Magellan RoadMate 5330T-LM 5 witha 1 yr warranty on the amazon.com website.  It was registered on the Magellan website as soon as I received it, on Apriul 20, 2017 (Serial# 0892100102636).

When I atttempted to use it on August 30, 2017, the screen froze after powering up, and it was completely unusable, so I used the website to ask for a refund or at least a prepaid RA label so I could return it for repair.  In response Case# 500904 was opened on Aug 30, and on Aug 31 I received an email which ignored my request and instead asked me to supply various infoirmation, which should not have been needed since the product was already registered.

I was also asked to try various troubleshooting proicedures.  I supplied all the requested information and performed all the troubleshooting, none of which fixed the problem. I again asked for a refund or a return label, andf that is what I then expected.

Instead, I got another email asking me to take a picture of the screen, which I could not do since I do not have a camera. It also told me to go to the website and check out the FAQs. I replied that since they were refusing to honor the warranty, I would be filing complaints with the proper authorities.

Since Magellan is owned by Mitac Digital Corporation, I sent them a letter addressed to President since I was unable to find the names of any U.S. management on the web.

I have gone through 3 generations of Magellan GPS because I like their address book, and they work for a while and then have various problems.  This will be last attempt at dealing with Magellan, unless they replace or repair it.

My complaints got immediate results.  Mon eve (09/11), Garmin started calling every 2 minutes, but did not leave any messages. After about an hour of this, they did leave a message asking me to call them, which I did.  They said they could not give me a refund, but would give me a replacement once I returned the original unit & car adapter at my own expense.  They do not provide prepaind return labels but said they would reimburse me for the postage.  Returned it via UPS on Tue (09/12), then got an email asking me for a PDF of the UPS shipping label, which I did.

On Tue (09/19) received a replacement unit and will charge it and customize if necessary.  Not sure yet whether it is the same serial# or a new one I will have to register.  No word as of now on postage reimbursement.
