Magic Jack Magic Jerk makes a jerk of most who use it Austin Texas
Magic Jack makes great promises, has good advertising and does work a little for some. For real reliability there are questions. But the primary danger in using a company that chooses to operate as they do (in half truths) is that we empower (emcash) people who are not doing what they promise for consumers. Sure they monitor your calls because they force advertising on you and want to know what you are the best target for.
The bigger deal might be that you do NOT get to keep your old number and that you probably will NOT get a number even within your own zip code. So not only will you need to contact everyone you know and have done business with to change your number (and lose a certain percentage of them no matter what), but they will probably need to dial four more numbers and pay for long distance even if they live next door to you. That will may you very popular.
There's more from the other folks reporting bad stuff, but this is enough. Too bad this isn't a company that respects it's customers and tries to give them a good service with new technology rather than suck them in and spit them out.
