I signed up for MagicJack, and when my initial 12 months expired, I chose the $5 per month plan. Sadly, I couldn't afford the $35 plan right then and there, so I decided for just one month, I would do the $5 plan.
I went to go use my MagicJack, and hmmm... not working. I chatted with customer service, and they told me I needed to pay another $5, because that initial $5 was to pay for the one month I did not have active service. I said this was insane, but I agreed to pay the extra $5. So, now it was $10 for one month.
My phone was working and all of that. Next morning I wake up, and I see a $37 debit from MagicJack.com on my banking statement, which caused an overdraft of $7, and I got hit with a $30 overdraft fee. I contacted MagicJack and they said they automatically signed me up for the year plan. I said, I just signed up for ONE month yesterday! How on Earth do they decide that I'm authorizing a charge for 12 months all of a sudden?
So, I end up getting the money "refunded" to my card. 7 days later, the charge still hasn't come off. My bank won't release the $30 overdraft fee because the money hasn't been issued back to the card yet. So, now I have a -$37 bank account balance, until Tuesday, which is my next payday. Talk about an inconvenience.
Fradulent charge, outsourced customer service that just simply go through the motions.
MagicJack is a good phone service, but this whole fiasco was ridiculous.
