I bought a second home in Fl and didn't want to pay for landline service but my cellphone didn't work inside my home so I bought a Magic Jack device. It sucked. Calls constantly disconnected mid-conversation, the voice quality was like talking in a tunnel and very regularly in the middle of a conversation the system would freeze up for 5-10 seconds and then start working again. Since I only came to Florida for short times once a month I lived with it. Now that I've retired to that property I decided to do something about having a decent working in-home phone so I tried Omma. Wow ! what a difference ! Its like a regular landline and after buying the table top device for $110.00 I pay only about $3.00 a month for the Fed and State Taxes. A world's difference
What really ticked me off though is that I had three years left on my Magic Jack 5 year plan that I had paid for and when I contacted them (online "chat" is the only way to contact them) they refused to refund the remaing 3 years and, outrageously, when I asked for the corporate address (so I could write to the company) they refused to give it to me. Any company that refuses to give out its own address is highly suspect. Based on my experience and in my opinion, getting involved with Magic Jack is a bad move. Its device sucks, customer service is terrible and they hide their own address.
