Magic Jack is making millions of $$$$$$$ while completely misrepresenting a so-called phone service ( device) . This "junk" is about as useful as t**s on a boar hog. After the extremely long process of trying to install this piece of crap, you then have to deal with the constant dropped calls, that is if you can even make or recieve a call. I am a microsoft certified computer tecnician and system builder with several degrees and i tested MagicJack to see if it was indeed a great product as advertised. I was going to send one to my daughter so she could keep her monthly bills to a minimum, with 2 new babies she needs to save as much as possible. And again i was not suprised to see that the MagicJack was completely and intentionally misrepresented as advertised. The phone service is terrible and doesnt work most of the time. There is no call waiting, but you do have "call drop" in other words, you make a call, get another call, switch to answer and drop one or both calls, as explained by the so-called tech support. Now you can talk...i mean chat with tech support and they are very nice. But..........yeah!! theres always a but...

If you ever have to deal with these techs, they will leave your computer vulnerable to every virus, every spyware and every hacker.

These ding dong techs wanted me to add or open ports that would create holes for any virus, malware, spware or hacker to enter. They also wanted me to leave my firewalls off, now thats a dumbass idea. They also asked me to set my computer to recive all cookies...uuuuuuum nooooooo!!!

A computer cookie is a small text file which contains a unique ID tag, placed on your computer by a website. The website saves a complimentary file with a matching ID tag. In this file various information can be stored, from pages visited on the site, to information voluntarily given to the site. When you revisit the site days or weeks later, the site can recognize you by matching the cookie on your computer with the counterpart in its database.

There are two types of cookies: temporary and permanent. One will be deleted everytime you do a cleanup the other will stay. These cookies can be used by online companies that can and will track every site you visit. Some of these companies can and will have your banking info as well as your identity. They will sell your info to other companies....ever wonder why you get spam emails or get offers by mail?????

Basically MagicJack is no friend of the consumer.....but wants you to open yourself up to be taken advantage of by any and all consumer preditors. Not to mention the device just doesnt work very well....between the lost calls, not being able to make or recieve calls, the constant having to download and install the SAME update and the uneducated or untrained tech support this device is just not worth the money or time...

I dont blame tech support they are only doing what they are trained to do. If anything i applaud their ATTEMPT to help. I do blame the company and the creator of the device for being one of the ultimate consumer preditors in a time of hardships for the American public.
