Complaint Review: Magni Boerboels - Merrillvile Indiana

his complaint is in regards to Kohl Shallenberger stating that we sold him a dog with cryptorchidism (an undescended t******e) and we have failed to offer him his replacement, as promised in our contract ‘in almost 3 years’. First of all, Kohl’s puppy was born in May of 2016. It wasn’t until the end of 2016 that we were positive the ‘undescended t******e, was not going to drop. Kohl was offered to choose a different male and he and his wife chose not to. Therefore, I added an amendment to his contract (attached) and signed by Kohl. Kohl was offered his 'replacement female' for each litter we had since Magni Safa was 1 year of age, He is now just over 2 year (D.O.B May 2016) and he rejected each one due to different personal reasons he had going on at the time. Unfortunately, these offers were all rejected via phone so I have no written record of these offers. However, as shown in an email to him (attached), from September of 2017, he again denied taking his replacement as it was not the right time.

Since Kohl has owned his male from us, he has stated how much he loves and believes in the way we run our breeding program and the dogs we use so he continually requested us to incorporate so he could ‘buy 15%’ of Magni Boerboels, as an investment. Everything was fine with our relationship until, a few months ago, I told him that we were not looking to ‘sell’ part of our name to him and we weren’t interested in doing more co-owns with him. Kohl became angry and left my home. A few days later he emailed me to request cancelling the two co-own contracts and insisting he keep both females. I replied with a counter offer and we went back and forth, via email, countering. Since it appeared that this was not going to be settled, I hired an attorney to handle it.

All this time, Kohl has been in possession of a third female puppy that is placed at his father-in-law’s home in Kentucky. I have been trying to arrange pickup of my puppy since June 2018. He and his father-in-law have not responded to several text messages, phones calls and emails asking for someone to tell me how my puppy was doing and when I can send someone to pick her up. They are holding my puppy hostage and I do not know anything of her well-being.

Finally taking my rudimentary understanding and translating it into what I knew was the right animal for me and my family I investigated the many fascinating Bloodlines in the Boerboel realm. Caberet, Nostras, Gretchen, Bosvlie, spitzvuur. One place knew about them all. And knew there is more to it than just a name. This place was Magni Boerboels and company. Not bogged down by the theories and schools of thought now forming around these dogs. Hours and hours of conversations with Candi and her husband led us to understand several things but most importantly their sincerity. They sincerely want to improve this already amazing animal and will not think twice to tell someone “No you can’t have one”. They invited us to visit their Boerboels first hand and two things happened that day. My thoughts about the breed were solidified and I met my family for the first time. After that day thousands of emails were exchanged: another hundred hours of phone calls took place and several more visits. Culminating into our trip to finally take our first Boerboel home. Magni Safa is our puppy and he is brilliant. Shining brighter then some stars he struts around the yard warding off potential threats to his new family. He knows his position within the pack. Our newborn will get fussy to which Magni Safa will go lay next to him. No one gets near the baby without his permission. He is more aware of his surroundings than we could ever understand. And we could not be any happier. Anyone who is considering inviting a Boerboel into their home should utilize Magni Boerboels immense knowledge and excellent business ethics. As it is unparalleled and will make the process that much smoother. Especially since they will always be a phone call away to help you along the way. -Mr. Shallenberger”
