Approximately a year ago I purchased a remanufactured NV4500 transmission from Man Trans in Tallahassee Florida. Marcus the sales rep was extremely courteous during the transaction and I received prompt delivery of my transmission to my street address. About three months before the warranty was out the transmission began to jam in fifth gear. This required me to remove the shifter and realign the shift rods re-install the shifter and all would be good for a while. However the frequency increased beyond a minor issue so I contacted Man Trans regarding a warranty repair.

I spoke with Marcus about the problem and he referred me to Darrell the owner and operator who suggested several checks that I might perform. All of which were to no avail and in the end I had to ship the transmission back to them for a warranty rebuild. Darrell assured me that he would make it right. This communication process that took place prior to shipping the unit back spanned nearly three weeks. Two of which I had the transmission out of the truck. Man Trans absolutely refused to pick the unit up at my street address. They insisted that I locate and take it to a truck shipping terminal. I finally arranged shipping and got the unit back to them. They kept it two weeks and I had to call to see if it was ready. It took them nearly another week to arrange shipping back to me. I installed the back in my vehicle and guess what after three months it’s locking up in fifth gear again. I do believe all they did was set the unit on a shelf for a couple of weeks and then when I called sent it back. Don’t be sucker like me, don’t buy from Man Trans they sell a shoddy product, are practically non-existent if you have a warranty issue. You will have to initiate all contacts because they never return phone messages and are always too busy to talk to you. If I had been able to visit their business (if you can call it that) I would have thoroughly enjoyed kicking Marcus and Darrell’s a****. Given the situation I have to consider it a lesson learned.
