I have known marc cantrell since high school and began doing rehab work for his company advantage mortgage(belly up) in kansas city around 2006 to 2008and did several (7 or more)complete rehabs, with no problems with payment, on homes in kansas city,missouri.. He also ran restaurants called cheesehead(belly up) and spitfire grill(belly up) also in kansas city.He moved to chicago a couple of years ago but came back to kansas city in june of 2011 and asked me to do a rehab on a house he and shawn majidi(now living in california) owned which the city had scheduled for demolition unless it was repaired.
we came to an agreement on the price and i began the work. fast forward 2 weeks. he had been making slow and incomplete progress payments and it was like pulling teeth getting materials and getting paid, come to find out marc was not paying me and shawn majidi was backing the deal at which point i contacted shawn and he assured me i would get paid and said marc was managing the job and making the payments as he tranferred the money to him, he even wrote me a personal check at this time.
during the rehab marc stayed on the jobsite and basically was in the way, asking advice on irrelevant personal projects on the house, wasting days going to second hand stores trying to find used windows and materials for the whole house which were all bid for new at the beginning of the job, and trying to be a construction man on the job i was doing. one day he spent half a day scraping paint off of a furnace vent (literally). long story short he has owed me 1800.00 since july of 2011 on this job after promising several times to pay me and after shawn promised several times to pay me i still have received nothing. after repeatedly contacting him he finally responded through e-mail with personal attacks against my girlfriends 7 year old daughter and claimed my work was sub par etc..
these were all just lame excuses not to pay me as he was on the jobsite and monitored every aspect of my work as it was performed the entire 6 weeks i was there. he claimed i ruined a vanity,when in fact he filled the sink(which the plumbing wasn't even installed yet) with ice for beer and it leaked all over causing damage to the bottom of the vanity.watch out for these guys they did not keep their word and did not pay me,my mistake for trusting him and not getting a written contract. lesson learned; don't trust someone just because you thought they were friends and had done several sucessful transactions.

Update! I'm clearing Sean Majibi and Alux auto. Thanks for contacting me sean i would like to clear your name here.Since you did give the money to marc to pay me and he misappropriated it, I feel we were both victims. Thanks for reaching out.

Shawn I did lose sleep over that incident. I lost more than money over that deal. i lost my electricity, almost lost my truck and was unable to pay my bills that month. You are twisting the facts to skew your role in the event. you were supposed to write me the final check per our discussion when you came to the job site and gave me a check personally and told me directly you would be giving me another check directly. if you had given a friend to pay your house payment and he stloe the money and never paid it would that relieve you from having to make the payment.....No! It was not my fault Marc took your money. I offered to settle with You for fifty cents on the dollar as a kind gesture. And you acted like you had never agreed to pay me. It was a bait and switch, each of you holding the other responsible for not paying me, which meant nothing for me. would have taken you both to court and won but made the mistake of not drawing up a contract. I would clear you of any wrong doing if you would just pay me at least half of the money you still owe me. we also had a verbal agreement that you would give me 5000 when the house sold. here we are 3 years later not a dime. your partner ripped you off, yes i get it. that does not give you the right to rip off the little guy, who still did the work,to recoup your money. i don't care what happened between you two you were equally responsible and you were in the loop the entire time. You as a man should have made it right by me on principal. obviously this report has caused you some discomfort, why don't you do the right thing and cut me a check. i know you owned a luxury car lot and a beach house in california. I will gladly change the report to reflect your payment whe you make good, anything less still leaves you in bad light and is unacceptable. i need my money just like you do shawn.

I have lived in California since 1997!
My personal dealings with Marc Cantrell, now an ex-friend, who Ive known since middle school, high school, and college, cost me over $50000 and I blame myself for trusting Marc, not you or anyone else....As you are aware, the two of you had made the final arrangements, and terms of the contract, and as you mentioned, your prior working relationship and history between you and Marc is why you worked on the property, since I live in California and had not seen or heard from you, since high school.(23 yrs ago), with exception of a couple of short visits I made to KC.
I paid again, and completely rehabed the property, spending an additional $25000 after Marcs incomplete, distastorous, and irresponsible decisions. i have not ripped you or anyone else off and sleep very well at night!
I am the True VICTIM and the one that was TRULY RIPPED OFF by Marc Cantrell, and do not want to remind myself of all the details of the WRONG that was done to me, when all I did was to try and help a friend at a time of need, whom Ive realized was an ungreatfull, irresponsible, smooth talking liar, con artist, and much more.....as mentioned dont want to remind myself!!
