May trucking charges the driver idle time, says you can earn it by running, the catch is, they dont run you enough to earn free idle time, so you end up paying to sit and wait for hours on end at shippers and consignees, with no detention pay.

I was supposedly on the phx loop ( Los Angeles- Phoenix)

about 340 mile oneway trip while waiting at customers most times upwards of 6-10 hours past appt time, in the heat of a typical Arizona day ,if i ran the truck for A/C it cost me money upwards of 30-50 a week and that was before summer hit.

Detention time was promised me on certain trips , that were never paid. And trips completed were never paid.

Upon my final departure from this company, I found these indiscrepencies on pay settlement sheets and called then on it.

Was told they would look into it. One month later I get a settlement sheet , saying I owe the company money for equipment that was never returned. Equipment that was never issued to me to begin with. i was then again charged for insurance the month after my departure, and for idle time after i was off the truck.

I got a portion of my money back. I ran out of patience and time to mess with them anymore. Be very wary of this company and watch your pay sheets very carefully (if) and when you can get home to see them

Phoenix Loop is Discontinued

I have been getting plenty of miles from May since I started with them nearly 18 months ago, but I am not on a dedicated/regional run either. The company is very tight on idling times. This winter they installed Webasto bunk heaters in company-owned units, then they said that during Winter (October-April) idling must be kept to 7% or less. That is tight, but the Webasto is a better heater than the cab heater. If the Phoenix loop was not working I don't know why the original complainant did not try to get off of it. Apparently he was not the only one. That loop along with the tri-state region (CA, AZ, NV) have been discontinued and is now part of the Western 11. Also, the post-departure charges noted may not have been actual charges at the time. It may have been in the YTD section. Their settlement sheets take some adjustment. As of April 1, 2006, a wage increase went into effect.
