Have a 2007 Mazda 5, with 34,000 miles purchased new. The purge solenoid valve failed and Mazda refused to cover the part under warranty even though Mazda Service Bulletin #01-003/09 states, " The purge solenoid valve manufacturing process has been changed to eliminate this concern." Ergo, Mazda sold a vehicle with a defective part and the consumer has to pay for their mistake. In my case, the Mazda "mistake" cost me $280.43.

Mazda in it's own bulletin admits the part was defective. Mazda's lack of quality control is the fault of the consumer? I think not.

Ohh, OK. Now I have a better understanding of the message you were attempting to convey. When you wrote, "Mazda refused to cover the part under warranty", your actual complaint was that Mazda was unwilling to offer a free repair on an out-of-warranty product. Thanks for clarifying.

Is it your contention that Mazda's service bulletin somehow...

oblligated them to replace yours, no matter how many miles or years on your car?

The statement does NOT agree to replace the parts at ANY interval or time it might fail.

Pretty liberal interpretain of how these things work.. get over it.

I did not have the extended warranty which is irrelevant, as in Mazda's own words from Service Bulletin #01-003/09, "The purge solenoid valve manufacturing process has been changed to eliminate this problem." That statement admits that the part was faulty and the manufacturing process had to be changed."

Did you purchase an extended warranty?

"Mazda refused to cover the part under warranty"

That's because the vehicle is no longer under warranty. The 36 month/36,000 mile warranty expired two years ago. Apparently you thought it was still under warranty because it has 34,000 miles. Did you purchase an extended warranty that you didn't mention in your report?
