McBride's Bullies Deaf dog Lumberton, North Carolina
My daughter bought a bulldog puppy from McBride's Bullies in Jul 2010. He turned out to be totally deaf. We sent them the vet report explaining the ear structures look good and the presumptive diagnosis of congenital deafness as well as documentation from all vet visits.
My daughter was attached to Simon and could not bear the thought of what might happen to him if she returned him - Mr McBride repeatedly gave no assurances on that matter during one conversation. He was not willing to make any kind of partial monetary adjustment despite our sending him all of the vet documentation.
We are living with a deaf dog - we have spent extra money for a trainer and will never have the pleasure of him hearing us call his name. We have also spent money on cherry eye surgery (not to be unexpected in a bulldog), surgery to remove viral growth, and numerous other health issues. We didn't expect to not have any health problems with a bulldog, but we have experienced more than should be typical for a highly priced bulldog.
I highly recommend looking somewhere else if you are interested in a bulldog. The Bulldog Club of America has some recommended breeders. I am sorry I was so trusting in McBrides. Please learn from our mistake.
