McCune Cycle World Tony, Al and Carter I first contacted McCune about a dirtbike that they had for sale via the internet on 8/9/2012. The bike was listed as in like new condition and the asking price was $1899.00. I went the following day Mansfied, Ohio
I firtst contacted McCune Cyle world by phone on 8/7/2012 about a used KTM 85sx kids dirtbike they had for sale via the internet for $1899.00. The sale ad described the bike as in like new condition, as did the Al the salesman I spoke with on the phone, who told me $2000 "out the door" as he said, was the best price they could give me . I decided to purchase the bike and traveled over 50 miles to the dealership to pick it up. When I arrived I was greeted by a different salesman named Carter and was told, to my shock, that the final bill would be $2430. When I asked why the price increase I was told there was a $200 docking fee that McCunes charges for checking and servicing the motorcycle, and that there was an additional $400 docking fee from the manufacturer. Carter assured me that this fee meant the motorcycle had been completely gone through and they had even gone as far as to open up the motor to assess its condition internally, but they had a policy of no test rides. I was informed they would start it up and I could hear it run, and that that was their normal operating procedure. After arguing with Carter for several minutes over the inflated price, upset I decided not to purchase the bike for the inflated charge. Later that day I again called McCune and this time i got Al on the phone again. This time he apologized for Carter, and the price increase and informed me that Carter has tried several times to rip off customers that he has worked with and they had had problems with him in the past. He assured me that there was no docking fee on a used bike and that all would be corrected and i should work through him, so i did. On Friday 8/10/2012 we again traved 50 plus miles to McCune Cyle world to purchase the KTM, which we did this time for $2000 even though Nada value on the bike in excellent condition was $1849, unfortunately we found this out later. Upon arriving at home and unloading the bike for an initial test ride we realized the bike had absolutely no rear brakes at all, and was leaking fluid badly from the rear caliper. I called Al and reported this problem to him. I also told him exactly where the fluid was coming from. He asked me to bring it back for repair, which my wife promptly did as i could not get away from work. Feeling unsure and distrustful of McCune after our initial experience i decided to mark the bolts on the caliper with a grease pencil before the repair to see if they actually had taken it off to inspect/repair it. Well as you can imagine, they didn't. All they did was put fluid in it and as soon as my son pressed the brake a few times the fluid ran out the caliper and again there was no brakes putting my child in a dangerous situation on a motorcycle without any rear brakes at all! On 8/13/2012 I again called McCune Cyle World to complain and was told this time that the bike was repaired and its now my problem for buying a used bike and the absolutely refused to look at it again. In retrospect i wish I would have never walked into this place. I'm sure that an inspection of the vehicle was never performed as they claimed and I am also sure that they tried to rig the brakes to work long enough to leave the dealership and that was all. I took the motorcycle to a reputable local dealer to have it inspected and found out the rear caliper needed to be rebuilt and the master cylinder was also bad. I am sure that they new about these problems before they sold it to me and totally refused to fix it correctly after i complained. These people are complete sheisters! Buyer beware, if you work with McCune Cyle World they will lie to you, steal from you and not stand behind their statements or their products! I cant think of anything worse than buying your 11yr old a new dirtbike and him not being abe to ride it because it isn't safe. I just paid $2000 for a motorbike for my son that just sits in the garage because we spent all our money on their inflated price for a bike that supposedly had been thoroughly inspected and gone over and now we cannot afford to pay another dealership to repair it. Stay away from McCune Cyle World they are liars and cheats!
