Medix School or Medix College is one of these schools. The programs are useless, and they purposely open schools in strip malls and shady areas of cities so they can specifically target low income people to go to school there as they are more likely to qualify for student loans. The programs are accelerated, they target lower than average students, they can't place them in jobs, its just get the business, get them in, get them out.
Its a horrible business model.
I worked at Medix, I saw first hand of how they treat students. I was sick to continue working there so I quit. Medix School should be closed up. Avoiding this school will be the best investment you will ever make.
Minority students that are poor are affected, and thats who they go after to recruit. A then they will point out one or two case studies that are success stories, but let them show you the employment reports, dept payments, job progress reports, show me some real stats. Show me the drop out rates at these schools. Medix is quite high.
I remember sitting in a staff meeting where we had to sit around and listen to the Directors praise how great the values of the school were, (we all rolled our eyes), as we always had to. The Directors often gave us the old "Changing peoples lives" speech. In particular Peter Dykstra who looked like a 12 year old boy in an adult suit. He asked one of the Career Counselor's to show everyone the Placement Percentages of putting students in jobs and she gave an honest and truthful presentation.
She said the programs that are being offered at Medix are not in any demand. Programs are Medical and General Lab, Medical Office Assistant, Social Service Worker...etc. Also they ones that were like the Personal Support Worker Program only pay $11.00 an hour. Peter cut her presentation short. He didnt want to hear the truth, didnt want his staff to hear the truth even though everyone knows this. Peter Dykstra is part of the kool-aid bunch, drinking it, probably bathes in it.
Medix College is a waste of your time. Avoid it, Avoid them completely.
