I went to the dealership to purchase a new Mercedes. I explained to them that I was expecting a check and would come back when I had the money for the down payment. They informed me that I could make the purchase and they would wait for me to get the check and to just call them when I had it. It was no problem. Well, I got the check and it was not the amount I was supposed to get. I called them and told them this. The manager said we would work something out as to the balance of the down payment due. The loan officer did not agree with this, and was very nasty and asked me to return the car and threatened to sue me for the downpayment plus another $10,000 in attorney fees. I informed him that he needed to send someone to pick it up since I could not drive it with dead tags. (He was holding the tags until I got the downpayment.) He sent a tow truck and I requested a receipt saying that there were no scratches or anything else wrong with the car.

I then went to another dealership to purchase the car but was told that Mercedes Benz of Alexandria has not closed out my account, that it was still open and I could not purchase a new car until they did so. I am still waiting for them to close out the account. The Mercedes finance company is more than willing to finance another car once this company has closed their account.

Mercedes Benz of Alexandria loan officer's name ? Dave Hanbury (email address: [email protected]). His direct dial number is 703/341-2101.

It is a shame that a Benz buyer has to go through so much crap at Mercedes Benz of Alexandria. I called the manager (Travis Snow)to try to resolve the matter and his comment was the only way I could buy another car from MB of Alexandria was that I had to come up with $30,000 because that was what he asked for in the first place. I reminded him that he only asked me for $20,000. It was my idea to put down $30,000 because I thought I was going to get more money than I did. What a deceptive person. Suddenly, there was dead silence on the phone. No response. He certainly never has to worry about me doing business with MB of Alexandria again. NEVER. RIP-OFF keep up the good work. Gail

10K short?

OK she was 10K short on the down payment and she has no responsibility? Did she write a check that bounced? Did she sign a promissory note? It also sounds like her complaint should be with MB financial, not the dealer. The dealer has nothing to do with the rescinding of the contract and cant "close the account" You think I should care because it is a 100K car? Maybe someone that can't come up with the extra 10 shouldn't be buying such an expensive car.

Hey Mark don't be too fast to suck up and protect or defend the car dealer. If the dealer did NOT get the money up front when all was signed, why did they deliver the car? We are not talking about a used old beat up Mercedes Benz my friend. We are talking about a NEW SL 500. Mark do you have any idea how much one costs? My problem is that the F&I Clown got rude with the lady and got pissy when for what ever reason the buyer was unable to come up with the $30.000 as a down payment. She was able to come up with $20,000. Maybe the F&I clown was pissed because he would have to reprint the contract with a new set on numbers. Not to many car buyers can come up with $20,000 as a down payment. A smart car dealer would have shown some RESPECT and make something work! I WILL MAKE sure that MBUSA gets a copy of your Rip Off Report. It's a labor of LOVE to make sure Joseph R. Leonardi READS IT. Why did the F&I Clown have to threaten to sue the car buyer? Many in the auto industry will be all nice and kiss your a*s, and shortly after all is signed their attitude changes FAST. Many who work in the auto industry are two faced *******. I called Dave Hanbury up and asked him one question. My question was why did he have to threaten to sue her for $10,000? Sounds like he had some major POUNDAGE set up in the deal and it fell apart. I had a chat with Gail she told me what went down. Sounds like Mr. F&I Clown got pissy because the way he had this deal all worked out did not go the way he wanted. Sounds to me as if this guy's ways of doing business needs to be used at Used Sled show some place other then a Benz dealer. Gail you have a way to contact me. Use it if you need anymore help. I will make sure no nobody scams you. I also will make sure no F&I Clown sells you a bunch of extra CRAP just so they can take some of your hard earned $$$$ Just call me and I will help you! Please post your thoughts!

I do not have the car -- Mercedes Benz of Alexandria has it. Therefore MB of Alex. should notify Mercedes Financial that this account should be closed since they refused to accept $20,000 and they have their car back.

Stick,

When Mercedes Benz realizes the customer did not pay the down payment, they will side with the dealer, If she did not pay YOU would you let her keep the car?

why are you posting this as a ripoff? You said you would pay said amount within a given time and you failed to do so. The dealership should file the ripoff report

Gail As a consumer advocate, I feel that mercedes Benz USA needs to review your Rip Off Report. I contacted Mercedes Benz USA and informed them of your Rip Off Report. I also asked them that they might like to review this car dealer's CSI.

I hope things change for you real soon. best of luck.
