I purchased a used vehicle from Mercedes-Benz of Pleasanton recently. Let me just start by saying, DO NOT BUY HERE! I saw the SUV online and liked it because it looked clean in pictures, was a 1 owner vehicle and was 4x4. I drove 5 hours to buy this vehicle. What a mistake! I traded in a truck that was only one year old, cost me $70k new and was immaculate. I was hoping the pre-owned vehicle I was purchasing from a huge Mercedes-Benz dealer would at least be detailed and looked over by the service department properly.

Immediately, my salesman was being shady but I still wanted the vehicle so I went along with it.

When I arrived at the dealership I met the salesman and we took a quick 1 mile test drive. I was in such a hurry to buy it and get out of there because of my 5 hour drive back home that I didn't overlook the vehicle properly. Mistake, but didn't really think I needed to from a dealership like this. Let me add that I paid full asking price for this vehicle. Few days later I had a mechanic look it over and gave me a list of items the vehicle needed. It needed an oil change, front and rear differential fluid, new tires(only about 15% left), a update on the gps and a couple other things.

The main problem was that there was a misfire that we thought originally was the torque converter but was actually a misfire. Vehicle needs all new spark plugs and coils. So now I've purchased a vehicle at full sticker and I have to turn around and sink $2,000+ into it to run properly. Kind of rediculous... I've been talking with the owner of the dealership everyday about these issues and he doesn't want to do anything about it. He basically told me that he does the bare minimum servicing used cars and if I wanted a nicer car I should of bought new. Being in a very prominent sales position myself, I would never treat a customer like MB of Pleasanton treated me!

I have always tried to rectify mistakes and correct them even if it means paying for it myself! I wish this dealership would care about what they sell and take pride in their career. I was flabbergasted when the owner of this dealership showed no interest in fixing anything and told me "sorry, cars are as is". Well, he did offer something, he told me to drive another 5 hours each way to their dealership and they will "look at it". What a joke! A little sincerity and taking responsibility for overlooking a vehicle and not safety and servicing a vehicle before sale would of fixed this. It's scary enough buying cars from most car salesman...they never tell the truth! If you want a good experience try Mercedes-Benz of Encino or anywhere else, just not here!

Oh, and I haven't heard from the salesman yet. You would think when buying a car that they are getting paid a commission the least the salesman could do is call me or send me a letter a few days later asking how I'm liking the car without trying to sell me something.

So you really want us to believe that you drove 5 hours to trade in a $70,000 truck you have had for about a year for a USED 4x4?  Not only that but you apparently are so wealthy and are so pressed for time you paid their full asking price and didn't even look the vehicle over.  You apparently didn't even have time to look down at the tires that had only 15% left.  Yet, 5 days later you finally take it to a mechanic and complain about $2,000 worth of repairs on a vehicle you bought "as-is".

Let me add that I paid full asking price for this vehicle.

- So as someone who is in a very "prominent" sales position, you didn't even try to do any "negotiating"?  Not even a few hundred dollars?  Perhaps you may be in a prominent position you may not just be very good at it.  Perhaps you knew this was a very good price(perhaps even under blue book) and wanted to get out of their as soon as you could before they realized their "mistake".  After all you did drive over 5 hours to see it.  I would imagine that there were probably at least a few other similar cars closer to where you live in the Bay area.

Something just doesn't add up in this.  How about telling us exactly what vehicle you traded in and exactly what vehicle you bought and how much you paid for it.

I have always tried to rectify mistakes and correct them even if it means paying for it myself!

- And that is exactly what you are doing.   YOU failed to have the vehicle checked out BEFORE you bought it, and therfore because of  YOUR mistake YOU get to pay for the repairs.
