Merchants Credit Guide ripoff Called me and left a recorded message to call Ken Hughes Very Urgent! Chicago Illinois
I recieved a call on 4-12-05 which was a recording requesting that I call Ken Hughes at toll free number and that this was not a solicitation to sell, that it was very urgent that I call him immediatley.
When I called back, Mr. Hughes was not available but his assistant would be glad to help me. I mistakenly verified my name and number. Then I was told that they were arranging to collect over $4,000.00 from me that I owed to an account I had never heard of. Then I was told that this was from 1991.
At that point, I started to laugh and said, OK you've got me, what's the joke. I was then told that this was no joke and that I would soon recieve a letter in the mail to explain how I was to pay this $4,000.00. Still unconvienced, I repeated that they could drop the joke and tell me the truth.
This is all new to me and I tried to get more info from the person I was talking to, but they were very vauge and said to just wait on the letter and it would explain everything. I called them back, this time not telling them who I was and requested to speak directly with Mr. Hughes. I was told he was not available and I then got their Name, address and then found them on the Rip-Off Report.com website and they are listed several times.
At this point, I will wait on the letter, but I am not taking them seriously thanks to the Rip-Off Report. I will update this when I recieve the letter.
