Ed, The way I see it you have some options here. The first would be to file a small claims case. Based on the evidence you have presented, you clearly have a problem after leaving the shop that you did not have going in. It would have been helpful if you would have told us the year and model, and the mileage of your van. This will also make a big difference in your case, as well as if you have a verifiable service history on the vehicle. Also, did you stick around and watch them drive it into their shop? This is very important. If you did, was there a jump start involved, or did it start on it's own? If they had to jump it, they could have surged or grounded out a computer component. This surely sounds like some sort of surge related damage to me, especially with a Chrysler product. They already accepted responsibility once they offered you the rental car and hotel, etc. It's too late for them to back out now. They are obviously at fault and know it. I think a judge would see this too. I think you should file small claims immediately, and save all parts and get statements from whomever fixes it as to exactly what went bad and why. Stay off the phone with them now, get everything in writing. Good luck.
