I'd like to take a moment to respond to the above comments. I'm Rick Simonette, General Sales Manager of Michael Jordan Nissan and I've been satisfying customers at our store since 1998. It is unfortunate that "Rene" lost her keys and that the extra keys that the dealership gave her where she bought the car were the wrong ones. The car she drives does have an anti-theft computer chip in the master keys to assure that a "fake" or unprogrammed key won't start the car. Using an "unauthorized" key to start the car will make the car's computer shut down and refuse any key put into the ignition. This unauthorized key was obviously used to try to start the car for an extended period of time thus killing the car's battery. All of this is described in the operators manual. After damaging the battery the car was then left at an independent service facility for 2-3 days before having it towed to our dealership. No one at our store had to remove any parts to read a vehicle identification number because it's clearly posted inside the driver's door. We made the key, programmed it and advised Rene of the charges before the work was done and all of it was authorized. Rene's partner was obviously already agitated when he met me. He proceeded to use language that was very vulgar and I asked him several times not to use that kind of language and it got increasingly worse. After several attemps to calm him down I decided to tell him at this time I was unable to help him or Rene. He proceeded to threaten me and my whole staff. At this point I called the Durham Police Dept and had him removed from the lot. We make every effort to treat people with the respect they deserve and situations like these are few and far between. I hate that it ended this way! Rick Simonette 919-433-1726 [email protected]
