Here's a new one!  Michael's Craft Stores considers any receipt older than 60 days to be EXPIRED!!! This then allows them to keep most of the money you gave them at the time of purchase!  This is outrageaous!  I purchased a $6. item just over the 60 day limit.  I tried to return it yesterday and get the "store credit" promised in writing on the back of my receipt - and was told that it would be processed as IF I had NO receipt.  They then ran the item's bar code and told be I would get $3. back.  This is because that's what they consider the lowest  "sale" price over the last 90 days. WHAT!  Someone may have used a 50% off coupon to get the "sale" price.  (Read: they get to keep 50% of any item's cost at return even if the customer has the original 60+ day old receipt.)  They would do better to post the TRUE return policy by stating that all returns over 60 days old will be issued a store credit at 50%.  Does that seem fair??????? I, for one, find this policy to be just another lying rip-off and I will not be visiting them ever again.  I look forward to reading about the class action suit that is sure to follow!

Michael's Craft Store Return Ripoff

#2Author of original report

For someone who doesn't get out much, you should probably demonstrate better reading comprehension skills.  Let's try again, OK?  If a receipt contains the printed return policy AND it clearly states "Returns after 60 days, with receipt, will be given a merchandise credit", one would expect to get all his/her money back.  So far, so good, yes?  The average intelligent person would cry foul if the store decided to give 10 cents (or 50 cents) on the dollar for that return. OK, maybe not you....  But the rest of us would like to see this ripoff stop.

So what is your excuse

Normally in these types of reports the person who thinks they should be treated special usually come up with some excuse as to why they feel that way.  Unfortunately you forgot to put that in.  I gave you some common ones that you can let us know if any of them apply, or if you got a new one feel free to post that one instead.

You were out of town for 60 days.
You had to work every hour of every day they were open for that 60 days.
Your car in the shop for 60 days.
It took you 60 days to think if you REALLY needed it.

I, for one, find this policy to be just another lying rip-off and I will not be visiting them ever again

- I doubt they will miss you.
