Yesterday, when I opened my "Internet Explorer", an "urgent" message came up from Microsoft that I needed to "update" Internet Explorer from 6 to 7. I am not very familiar with computers, so I did so, and followed all the directions and instructions. I have Windows XP (home edition)

This AM when I turned on the computer, the line at the top where it has "file, edit, view......" was gone!!!!

After I had tried many things on my own, I could not get it back, therefore I called Microsoft (1-800-936-5700) for help. They told me, that since I was using a Sony product (Viao laptop) that it was their responsibility, not Microsoft (even tho it was a Microsoft product that caused the problem). Since it wasn't their problem, it would cost $34.99 to speak with a tech. Therefore I called Sony (1-888-476-6972), paid approximatly $20 and he fixed the problem.

Why didn't Microsoft fix it for free, since it was their product that caused the difficulty??????????

How to get the toolbar menu back - simple solution

#2Consumer Suggestion

I am aware of that change in Internet Explorer 7, and have found a way to resolve the issue Next to where the "Tabs" are (just above the actual webpage itself), you should have a large amount of open space Right-click in that area, and that will generate a drop-down menu The first item on that list will be "Menu Bar" - click that That will give you back the commands that you are used to having, but they seem to be "locked" between the Address Bar and the webpage window itself.
