Microsoft XBox Live policy is designed to steal money from customers; employees in the technical support phone service are trained/required to ignore customers with problems. The root of the issue is that the XBox Live service revolves around "Gamertags" (usernames for the XBox Live service) which when cancelled are irretrievable according to policy. Customers can spend hundreds of dollars with these gamertags and if Microsoft servers corrupt the gamertag in anyway they do not refund or even replace the services attached to that gamertag.

Microsoft should allow Gamertags to be retrieved and reactivated. A Microsoft employee told me that I could reactivate my gamertag at anytime after cancelling it for lack of ability to continue payments. When I did try to reactivate it, a different Microsoft employee explained that their policy prevents them from doing so. This is vindictive, and it's designed to force customers to re-purchase hundreds of dollars of services over again.

After filing with the BBB, Microsoft responded after 1 day. The support agent did not solve the issue, and kept me on the phone for an hour leading me around in circles. Her objective was to upset me to the point that she could report back to the BBB saying that I was uncooperative and baligerant. WATCH OUT! Do not let the agents rattle your cage.
