This letter is to express our extreme dissatisfaction with the work performed by Steve Spencer, owner of Mid America Diesel. The company is located at 414 N. Saginaw St., Holly, Mi. 48442.

We contracted with Larry Pryor, of National Power Supply to have two diesel engines rebuilt for our overseas customer. He subcontracted the work out to Mid America Diesel, and our relationship with them started with delays in meeting deadlines, and escalated to sub par workmanship and delivery times many months past the original due date.

When we finally received the engines at our Atlanta warehouse, we reshipped air freight (instead of Ocean Container, due to all the delays) at considerable extra cost to our company.  After the customer received the engines and tried to install, they did not work, had old hoses and other parts that should have been replaced, and are now in another shop being rebuild again. Needless to say, our customer refused to pay us for the engines. While our out of pocket expense for Mid America and transportation cost is near six figures.

Buyers beware!  Avoid doing business with Mid America Diesel.  They do poor quality work, return phone calls, stand by their warranty or meet their deadlines.

We purchased a engine through Austin Baxter with Diesel-Reman out of Texas. We paid extra for a Warranty. Without our knowledge Austin Baxter purchased a engine through Mid America Diesel. When the engine arrived all the extrememities were wrong. I spoke with Mr Baxter about the issues. He put me in touch with Streve Spencer. Mr spencer said he would send me the right parts to put on the engine. Even thoough I might add, the engine was suppose to be built to our engine serial number. The parts came in and they looked like they were pulled out of a scrap yard. The parts were put on and the engine was installed. The engine was started and no oil pressure at idle. I called Steve Spencer and told him the engine is coming back.

He said ok that he would fixed the problem. 2 months later he had still not picked up the engine. I started calling Mr Baxter becuase I wanted my 16,500.00 back. Guess what. He is nowhere to be found. Up and vanished. I finally shipped thje motor myself to Mr Spencer. The purchased was made June of 2014. After I shipped the motor back I tiold Steve that I wanted my money back. I bought a reman from Cummins and had it installed. We are now in April of 2015 and i am still waiting on my refund. But guess What? Now Steve Spencer has claimed that he filed Bankruptcy so I will have to deal with his attorney. Steve if you are ready this, there is a big difference from not paying your debt and flat stealing from somebody.

Please post the attorney you are using. I met with my attorney. If you have someone schooled in Steve Spencers ways I would like to start running with it. Based on the information I am finding on line there are a lot of people taken advantage of.

We Purchase 2 motor from this company..

Nothing about problems the motors cost me about $12K - $14K each. To date we have invested over $40K more on both truck. Bad injector, bad head ( which was replace twice on one truck). Worse of all you can never get in contact with Steve Spencer ( The only discission maker)in the company. He is  always in a meeting, never answer his cell. If you are lucky to get in contact with him, he will never call you back. I do not recommend this company. And i will be taking legal action.

Mid America Diesel Inc. response to false report.

I Steve Spencer Sr., president of Mid America Diesel Inc, am writing this in response to the Rip Off Report posted by John L., regarding Mid America Diesel Inc. This report is false for the following reasons: first, John L. was never a customer of ours. John L. is a broker, who purchased his engine from Bob Smith at National Power Supply, who is also a broker. John L. purchased this engine for resale to a customer of theirs. Bob Smith, at National Power Supply, ordered the engine from our company (Mid-America Diesel Inc.). We made Bob Smith aware that the KTTA Cummins engine, that they ordered, could not be built because there were no KTTA cores available with any of our suppliers. We, in turn, recommended to Bob Smith, from National Power Supply, as well Alan C., who worked for John L, that the KTTA engine could be substituted with a KTA Cummins engine. We explained, to both parties, that the engine block, crank, heads and horse power were the same and that this KTA could work as a alternative. We suggested that Alan C. notify his customer of these changes; Alan C. then contacted us at a later time and ok'd the order for the the KTA engine. The KTA engine was then built by Mid America Diesel Inc and shipped direct to Alan C. in Atlanta GA., as was agreed upon by all parties. It is our belief that Alan C. did not notify his customer of these changes and took it upon himself to ok and place this order. And upon his customer receiving the engine, they noticed that it was not the KTTA they originally agreed to and were upset.

We were later contacted by Alan C. who communicated to us that his customer was unhappy and would not accept the engine. So we suggested that Alan C. send the engine back to us for a full refund. To this date we have had no further communication with John L. or Alan C., nor has the engine been sent back. We feel that we have done everything, ethically and morally, that we could have done, in an effort to rectify this matter. At this point we are now seeking legal actions against John L. for slander.
