I am a senior citize went to midas for a oil change and to get my car inspected. I was told I had a broken spring. I was given an estimate gor 2 springs, struts, sway bar kit and 4 wheel alingnment and a sway bar kit.I did not get the alignment as they wanted 208.00 more for that.

The total bill came to 643.95 without tax.

I got the work done as they removed my inspection sticker.

I called the Ford Dealership and they said all I needed was the springs replaced and there bill would have been 304,00 plus tax. Even if they put in struts would hsve been only 453.00 They said sometimes they replace struts but only if needed, and could see no reason for the sway bar.

It is very hard being on a fixed income I had to borrow the money and realy feel that I was ripped off.

They did not replace a sway bar.

They replaced the BUSHINGS at each end that attach to the strut assembly. This is a common practice, and one that FORD also recommends. As for FORD telling you the struts did not need to be replaced, that's a laugh. Any shop will tell you what you want to hear when you think you've been robbed by their competitor. The reality is, ALL shops replace the strut cartridge when they replace the springs. This is required by the spring manufacturer in order to have a warranty on the springs. You have no complaint.
