Well, they decided to take this to arbritration (did you know that you have to pay an arbritrator a couple hundred dollars if you want them to hear your side of the story? Even if you are the victim of a scam company??) and we declined to even entertain the idea of entering into an agreement for arbritration. So....guess who the arbritrators found for? Yep! The people who paid them won the arbritration (shocking isn't it?)! So, exactly 1 year and 6 days after my certified request for proof of debt (thank you for the tips on the letter to send) I receive a letter from AAA thanking me for choosing them!? & stating MCM was awarded in the case.
5 months later MCM is FINALLY licensed in Florida & 2 months later I am served court papers by attorneys Pollack & Rosen, Brian M. Bilodeau ESQ.
8 months go by & we finally get to court (Mr Bilodeau appeared by phone). The judge took one look at the certified receipt I had in my possession from more than a year earlier & asked their attorney why MCM never provided the requested proof of debt. His reply," We are not here to discuss that issue...the issue at hand is to enforce the arbritration!" To which the Judge replied, "Dismissed!" and then he hung up on their attorney!!!!
Before leaving the room that day, I overheard an attorneys name who specializes in countersuing these collection agencies. After 4 years of harrassing phone calls, negative claims on credit reports, and more than a year of dealing with their litigation techniques, I do believe I will be giving that attorney a call.

I just spoke with the Department of Finance & they confirmed that Midland is not licenses in the state of Florida. They told me to send an order of cease & desist by certified mail to Midland. They also stated that they were sending my inquiry to investigations to see whether or not Midland should be conducting any collections in this state. I will update when I hear anything.
